Am I the only one who gets annoyed at "a transgender?" Its "a transgendered (proper noun)." It is NOT who I am, but a CONDITION of who I am.

I am not "A transgender" but a "transgendered woman."

Actually, put like that, I don't think I'd be bothered if I was referred to as 'the Australian'. (Though that doesn't happen often because people have trouble working out where I'm from. So it might not be a good example.)

But no, 'a transgender' sounds kinda broken.
