I give up on sleep.

Totally give up on it.

It's 5AM on a Tuesday. I am tired. I've only had 4 hours of sleep in the last day. I would like to go to sleep. But as soon as my head hits that pillow, I'm wide awake. It's like this every night. I've tried breaking up my sleep pattern to two 4 hour periods. I've tried sleeping earlier, later. I haven't had any caffiene in almost a week, which is TOUGH. I've had lights shining in my eyes, pitch black no-light sleeps in closets. My body simply refuses to budge from the sleep schedule it's had for years - 8AM to 4PM.

So you know what, I give up. After two hours of being awake in bed, I've decided to just stay awake. I have things to do like clean house, mail my taxes, and heck, I coulda finished AWFW if I'd just stayed awake. I need to be up an hour and a half for work anyways.

I'm just going to sleep when I can, and if I can't sleep because I'm at work, then so be it. I'll just be all the more tired when I CAN sleep.

(And now that I'm up and moving around - suddenly I'm tired...soon as I hit that pillow, though, wide awake).

Dear Ms. Dolari:

Here is how you can sleep well.

1. Sleep is a duty. Sleep means regeneration. Decide on when you want to sleep, and for how long. Go to bed at that time.
2. Do NOT force yourself to go to sleep. Lie there, be cool, and, if you like, talk to yourself. RESIST going to sleep. Just lie there, and RESIST.
3. Then, when you can no longer RESIST, let yourself go to sleep.
4. In the future, when you've done duty for at least 3 days, then treat it as discipline.

Or if that doesn't work, I have a bunch of Seroquel, which should knock your ass out. I'd be willing to give you some.

The problem with medicating myself to sleep (which I did with the Benadryl the other day), is I only usually end upsleeping in two four hour shifts. Medicating mysefl to sleep forces me to an 8 hour sleep shift and I'm draggin for the next 4 hours.

The day I benadrylled myself to sleep, I woke up 4 hours later and Was just draggin hard the rest of the day.
