I went to bed at Midnight. No problem. Had to get up at 8AM to take care of Sean (Diabetic Kids demand an A type personality...if there's a C, D or E type, then I must be about R or so). So to bed I went at Midnight - I figured as long as I could get to sleep I was fine.

And I did!

Until 1AM, when my bladder decided either IT goes or I go.

I like having controllable bodily functions, so I got up and went. And when I came back, I stared at the celing. The bookshelves. The moon. I wasn't getting back to sleep. About 2AM I said "screw it" and started playing Mario Kart. Erin came in to do Sean's 2AM fingerstick, and sat with me a bit, while I ranted and complained. About 3AM I finally fell to sleep. I did manage an 8AM wakeup.

I had some really wierd dreams. A new "type" or at least one I haven't had in a long time. I am driving the tractor of a diesel trailer when the trailer itself, and my pickup which is attached to the back comes off. I drive up ahead, put the truck in gear, and the emergency break. I get outside and literally push against the cab waiting for the trailer to hit the back of the cab. It hits...but it locks perfectly in place. No problems at all. I drive on through the intersection.

After I get out of the shower at 10:15, Sean and I play Mario cart for a while. I really dig playing games with him, since the only other real competition I have video game-wise is my Ex. I also tend to get along with kids a lot better than I thought. Or at least with Hanna and Sean.

However - Moment of Truth: The Fingerstick. I was so terrified over the whole diabetes/blood sugar/delicate machine thing for the last few days (I'll admit it - this is a kid's health we're talking about here). We did it. No problem. Didn't have to think about it again for another two hours....

We took off for Bastrop State Park. Our mission - to play in the playground. We got sidetracked though, when Sean looked at the map, and decided we were going to see a scenic overlook. Not a spectacular view...scenic overlooks are nice, but...well...you should be able to see more "far" than "near." We hiked among the piney woods, and then took off to a lake.

I swear I used to be able to skip rocks. I swear it. My dad taught me, and Dean taught me but the knowledge simply refuses to stay in my head. If I begin to like Lisa Frank, I will have to reevaluate my direction in life.

Did the fingerstickything one more time...it's pretty high maintenance stuff, but doesn't seem as hard as I imagined it would be. We finally got to the playground, and he puttered around with some (rather rude) local kiddies.

Finally got back home, and I made sure Andy got in before I simply went into the library and CRASHED.

But not before seeing a special about Lobsters and how they have this wierd Superman Phase where they swim around with their claws straight out. I swear I'm not making that up - it's a SUPERMAN PHASE.

Kinda like how kittens walk around with tails straight in the air.

I was out a good hour...woke up. Mighty groggily. Very semi lucid even now. I've got a mighty "Lack of sleep headache" like you wouldn't believe.

I was fighting sleep till 2AM when I did the 2AM fingerstick...but once I got moving and walking, I woke myself back up.

And now here we are...I'm all punchy and wierd and drowsy and funky right now...if I put a comment in your journal that offended, I apologize beforehand. At this point, if you told me I was William Shatner, I'd start singing Rocketman. Also there are typos. Prolly lots.

Tomorrow, I go "home." Hope I get that damned job. I like writing home WITHOUT the quotes....
