Got "home" yesterday. Not much else to say other than ROBOTECH ROBOTECH ROBOTECH (and Cowboy Bebop)

Today I spent the whole day rearranging my room, and trying to get the Internet Connection Sharing working on both computers. Turns out my sister's machine's network card is dead. Damn.

I moved my computer in here. The reason? I'm tired of constantly being "guarded." Constantly having someone olver my shoulder. But now - I'm alone until they decide I can't be trusted with a locked door. The other upside? I CAN WATCH DVDS ON MY TEEVEE! Woo!

Speaking of DVDs, I was never a big fan of Bakshi's version of LOTR. I'm a big believer in "If you want to make a cartoon, don't rotoscope it. Or at least use less rotoscopr than draftmanship." Not to mention that the movie doens't finish. :) For some reason my sister rented this for me. Still, it's a good story, even if it isn't finished. I just wish they'd decide on wether it's "Saruman" or "Aruman."

And now, I sit here, wanting to write out a story for a friend, so I can get her to give me some elven names...and I'm keep getting this "I'm not ready to be written yet" feeling from the story, even if it's just keypoints of just the first episode. I think it has something to do with ahving the main elvish characters with no names. The main reason I'm writing this to begin with. There are a few Elvish languages out there, and I'm terrible afraid of naming a character something that sounds neat, but translates out to "Aluminum Can" "Hatrack" "Kitty Loaf" or, worse yet, "Jim J. Bullock."

"UNNAMED SERIES"
(Keypoints)
Episode One - The Fact of Fiction

1) Establish Bill Parmer - A financial professional at a nameless faceless company. Has a humdrum existence at his job, where he is just another faceless payroll number.
2) Establish Bill's Family - his beautiful and loving wife Stephanie, and their seven year old daughter Emily. Their lives are very humdrum suburban lives. In all Bill's life is very plain, boring, and he is very comfortable in it. Very happy with it.
2a) Bill goes to sleep with a gentle kiss from his wife and an "I love you."
3) Establish New World (Serbin) - A wormhole opens up in an alien sky and down comes Bill into a grove of trees. He's brutally woken up by being bounced around the boughs of the pines until he's knocked back out by the thud of the ground.
4) Establish Elf Head Honcho (Elf #1), Expendable Elf (Elf #2) and Female Seargant at Arms (Female Elf #1)- Bill comes to in the morining among the trees and groggily shuffles out into the rural road. In an elvish language (most likely in an unreadable script instead of phoentics) Elf #1 and Elf #2 are actively searching for Bill. Once they find him, Bill is basically dragged away by the two. As they leave, Female Elf #1 comes to the scene with a technological tricorder-like device and curses.
5) Establish the Supporting Rebel Cast (Llanorian: Alaria, Calinian: Odeptch, Human: Carlos). Elf #1 tries to communicate to a hysterical Bill. Carlos attempts to communicate, but only speaks Spanish.
6) Establish the Supporting Bad Guy Cast (Elf CEO, Female Elf #1). Female Elf #1 reports to the Elf CEO that that another warior has appeared in the area, but that the rebels have gotten to him first. Elf CEO sits back and considers.
7) Carlos speaks to Bill in halting Englishtelling him the situation: He's been brought here to fight a revolution. Bill gets violent but is restrained by Elf #1 - In his best clipped English, he reveals that he wants to go back, he must join and fight.

Episode Two - Worldpower
1) Reprise - Carlos speaks to Bill in halting Englishtelling him the situation: He's been brought here to fight a revolution. Bill gets violent but is restrained by Elf #1 - In his best clipped English, he reveals that he wants to go back, he must join and fight.
2) Establish Corporate Society's Plot - The ELF CEO And Female Elf #1 go over recent reports of rebel uprisings and the inability to track the "imported" fighters. ELF CEO and Female Elf #1 should honestly seem concerned over the corporation-gonvernment's loss of profits over the raids, and the general welfare of the citizens. The idea should be a genuinely caring totalitarian corporate based government.
3) Establish Rebel's Plot - ELF #1 and Carlos try to explain their views. They are a rebel underground interested in overthrowing the unjust government that has been controlling this world. They recruit others from other worlds simply because the natives simply aren't motivated to overthrow the government. Every aspect of their lives are controlled by the corporation, and that's just wrong. The general impression should be one of a tightly knit group of elfin rebels, and a slightly less knit group of various Llanorian, Calinian and Human (all non-English).
4) Establish Bill's Distrust and technology - Bill is not pleased with being forced to fight, especially with a wife and child wondering where he's gone off to. He doesn't like the idea of non-elves getting involved in an elvin war. Only the Calinians seem to be happy in this fight. The Llanorians are very unhappy as well, especially working along side Calinians who were involved in a war with the Calinians. Alaria and Odeptch are the only two who get along, and even then, it's mroe of a mutual respect than a true friendship. The only thing keeping the non elves working is the promise that the device that brought them here will be reversed when teh government is overthrown.
5) Establish Off-world Technology - Female Elf #1 goes down to the main R&D department to find out where the research on their own Dimensional Transporter is coming along. It is not. While they can detect the rebel's use of it, they cannot create te effect themselves. However, they've managed to find the source of the wormhole and traced it to a Government Fish Factory uptown.
6) Set up cliffhanger - Bill and Elf #2 are to go to one of the government buildings and attempt to asassinate a high ranking scientist. Bill can either go and fight, or go and get captured and die. Either way, he will not go back to his family without the final overthrow. The machineis damaged, and can't be repaired unless the government is overthrown and a government friendly to the rebels is installeds.
7) It turns out that several days into the operation, not only is the scientist there, but the Elf CEO and Female Elf #1 are there as well. Security is high, but Bill and Elf #2 are already established. Upon hearing the Female Elf #1, Elf #2 gets brash and attempts to asassinate her. But his brashness gets the ebst of him as he crashes through a glass cieling and is killed by security. Bill is captured by the Corporate Forces after being seen by the Elf CEO himself.

Episode Three - Inside the Labyrinth
1) Reprise - Bill is captured by the Corporate Forces after being seen by the Elf CEO himself.
2) After several days, Bill, who has been taken care of well for a prisoner meets with the Elf CEO and Female Elf #1. Both speak clipped English, mainly derived from scientist stufying his language. They introduce themselves and are perfect hosts. They have never seen an off worlder before.
3) PAnic ensues at the rebel headquarters as they realize they are in serious trouble. They need to move from the fish factory, but the wormhole generator is simply too big for a quick relocation. Odeptch (an engineer) devises a way to get the machine moved easily while Alaria (a strategist) figures out how to "bug out" as fast as possible.
4) The debriefing continues - The Elf CEO relates the history of the corporation. IT is millenia old and works at keeping the civilians busy and productive. The final result is the profits for the corporation, which it uses to fund public works. The history is murkier. They are not sure how the Corporation started, but it's wildly successful. 100% of the population is employed and there are very few dissenters. Dissenters are usually found early and drugged to become more compliant...but dissent is less that .01% of the population. The rebels, though, are a new force. They simply showed up about a year ago and are getting more and more sophisticated. They basically tell Bill that he is welcome to join the society if he wishes. However, if he doesn't wish to, he will be marked as a dissenter and drugged.
5) The Rebel HQ moves from the fish factory to a large underground sewer/cavern. The "Machine" is rebuilt in a corner. Elf #1 tells Alaria (who most resembels an Elf) to go wait to see if Bill comes back.
6) Bill asks the CEO about not becoming a member of the society...but if he can lead their forces to the the rebels wormhole machine, the Corporation can study it and send him back home to his family. They agree.
7) Establish the Elvish City - Female Elf #1 and Bill retrace their way back to the Fish Farm. As they walk along, Bill mentions that if it weren't for his daughter waiting for him at home, he would stay here. The city is beautiful architecturally if a bit plain in decor. They make their way back to the fish factory, and before Female Elf #1 can radio in the location, Alaria shoots Female Elf #1 with a tranquilizer gun, and she pulls Bill away.

Series keypoints:

Bill's distrust of Elf #1 eventually dissapears and he will become a model soldier. Midway through the series, we are introduced to a secret that will cause Bill to completely distrust Elf #1, as well as most of the offworld rebels.
The Corporation will begin to look more and more attractive, and even welcoming. Midway throghthe series, we are introduced to the history of the corporation, which will cause even the CEO to doubt the continuation of the government.

Things I could use:
Names for Elf #1 (Hubris sounding), Elf #1 (Brash sounding), Elf CEO, Female Elf #1 (Both names should reflect sadness) and the planet. General names for various rebels (names should reflect arrogance, hubris and vanity) and governments and citizenry (names should reflect sadness).
