Okay...I've made a decision.

The first third of AWFW, the part involving the 7 year old Andrea, will be severely truncated.

Why?

Well....

In the original setup for AWFW, Hanna was NOT actively recruiting for the Shadows, and the shadow fight would have ended with Andrea helping the Angels and getting a halo as a "gift." After that, we would have had the episode "Doubting Roger" who is the typical "I'm teasing you because I like you" little boy, Roger would have been a black character and somehow, Andrea would have become convinced he was an agent of the Shadows. Afterwards we'd have had an episode where Andrea was scolded in school for being overbearing ("I'm an angel, and I'm ALWAYS right!") another where she nearly drowns after being pulled into a pool by shadows, another where she is told pointblank, by everyone around her that she is not an angel, and finally another episode where the Shadows attack her yet again, and she fends them off herself.

My mistake in all this was thinking I was the one writing this. :)

I'd been having some problems with the story..."The Final Nightmare" storyline came in on it's own, demanding to be written before "Doubting Roger." The confession that Hanna was recruiting for the Shadows caught me off guard. Here we had a good 25 episodes of highly mystical spooky good versus evil symbolic storytelling, and then we were going to go into the whole "Typical life of a typical 7 year old in a typical school where she just happens to be an angel." Not to mention the end of one of the later episodes is repeated in "The Final Nightmare." Did I mention problems I was already having with the existing story? The only explanation I could get out of Andrea as to why she thought Roger was a Shadow was that he was black. Now in an innocent seven year old frame of mind, it's believable. However, to anyone else, that's racist. And I really didn't want that. But I simply couldn't find another reason for her to think he was a Shadow...and that really bugged me.

However, I just had a SERIOUS brainstorm.

After The Final Nightmare, we will finish off the first third of AWFW, about the seven year old Andrea. The whole story that I wanted to tell is in there ,believe it or not, albeit a bit rearranged and condensed. I will finish it off somewhere between episode #25 and #30.

The second part of AWFW involves the 17 year old Andrea. The basic story I have devised for this is "The Otherkin War." It symbolically tells the story of my time with the Cartoon/Fantasy Organization (which I've often summed up as being promoted to Ensign three minutes before the Titanic struck the Iceberg), as told via an Otherkin point of view. Instead of the C/FO we have the Celestial Exchange Agency. Instead of the "Artists Room" we'll have the Angel's Roost.

Now, that second part will most likely piss a few people off...because...and I'll be frank...of all the Otherkin people I met during my short time there, only TWO have ever convinced me they are what they say they are....only ONE has convinced me she was what she says she was...and FOUR have ever convinced me they at least know what they are talking about. The rest, to me, are simply people who have played to much Magic the Gathering, or have such an inferiority complex that they have decided that they are no longer living in the plane of evolution that we are in. I plan to play that to the hilt, because if anyone remembers the C/FO, that's exactly what it was.

It will also depict my time with the Boulton and Park Society (summation of B&P: I don't wear heels because I'm tall enough already...and considering you're seven foot five, might I suggest a pair of flats?)

Perhaps groups in general are just composed that way? A bunch of people - a few who know what they are doing and furthering the group - a few dictating because they can dictate - and a bunch of sheep.

One thing those groups ALWAYS have is an Asshole:

C/FO had one, B&P had one, and the Otherkin groups had one:

Remember the character of Roger? He'll be here, and maybe I'll even name him Roger. He's named himself, though. He is Master Ibliael, Count of Darkness, Practitioner of Evil, Horror Inarnate, Subjugator of the Living. I'm not making that up. :) (Actually, I am, but for the purposes of fiction, I'm not the one making that up). Iblael is simply the voice of personal self-hate transferred and funnled through big fictions that'll sound like he knows what he's talking about. He's Harold Lauder, except people believe in him. And he helps start the war. And so does Andrea. :)

How will it end? With a lesson. And not one we expect.

And it gives me the excuse I need to have Andrea actually HATE someone...this will feed into yet another lesson learned later in life.

Scenes from the episodes that are being cut may show up in the second part..but in all, I think the first third will satisfyingly end...with only one or two major questions unanswered. :)

Some characters we will see in Part Two.

Faith, Hope and Charity - triplets who are also Andrea's best friends and schoolmates (and believe they are Amazons reincarnated)
Master Ibliael - Count of Darkness, Practitioner of Evil, Horror Inarnate, Subjugator of the Living
Ariel, Umbriel, Oberon and Saladan - The Celestial Exchange Agencies Angels
Harry - A friendly person who believes he's an Otherkin Species (Not sure which, yet...Elf? Vampire? Dwarf? Dragon? Spatula? Croissant?)

One thing we WON'T have in this part, if I can help it, is True/Human Angels or Shadows. If I have my way, we won't see Hanna, or any other angels or shadows till the end of the series.

Then again...my mistake in all this was thinking I was the one writing this. :)

hehehe

If you need me, I'll be over there, laughing.

P.S: Shouldn't that be "Horror In(c)arnate"? Oh, and I'm voting Croissant for Harry right now.

You clearly want to mock the Otherkin "community" as a whole, and more power to you on that-- a bunch of those people deserve whatever you can dish out, and I'm pretty sure I know whom you're basing Ibliael on. What I'm not sure of is how seriously you want the audience to take Harry. He's a good guy, but is he also mockworthy?

Mock is such a harsh word.

Actually, I plan to treat it very respectfully, but I'm letting my prejuduces through now. I don't plan for them to be overly stimulated newagey types, or a world filled with Professor Snapes. I plan to treat it as a legitimate group, with legitimate people. I just plan to put a spin on it that says "This group definately needs some help." And like my time with the C/FO we won't know if that help needs to be better organization, or frontal lobotomies for some of the self-proclaimed gods.

I actually plan to treat the "community" as a whole pretty well. It wouldn't be a "group" we would care about if I treated it like a laughing stock, especially if I want Andrea to be involved in it. Plus, I don't want to sour the audience on the group. The audience is going to have to care about this group for the things that happen later on.

In all honestly, I will be simply slapping Otherkin types into my time with C/FO which, despite bad leadership, was a fun group to be in for as long as it lasted.

As for Harry...he's a sweet guy who believes he's a (something - I'm still undecided). He will fit in with the group, while still being a very likable and serious guy (along with Faith, Hope and Charity, who are life long friends of Andrea).

There was an Ibliael in the C/FO, too, but he wasn't NEARLY as fun as the Ibliael I'm coming up with. ;) Even Ibliael gets respect...I mean, if he helps lead the community, he's GOT to have good points.

Any mocking that manages to make it through those filters is purely coincidental and has no resemblence to any person living or dead.

Maybe :)

I have my own ideas on that.

I see it rather simply. This kind of person is like cherry cough syrup with codiene. It can be something you might need from time to time, but if you loathe cherry, it can be really hard to swallow, and if you're allergic to codiene, then it might be a good idea to look for something else.

If I were going to come up with an Otherkin person who was likeable, but still "average" and representative of the group as a whole, I'd probably have to make him either Elenari or Tuatha De Danaan. Given my own natural ethnocentricity, you know what I'd like him to be, but when it comes to types with major presences, it's hard to beat the Elenari and TDD.
