THURSDAY
Well...that could have gone better. I took for for home about Midnight. My truck had a 1/4 tank of gas.

No back in 1995, this was more than enough to get me to San Antonio. Sometimes San Antonio and BACK to Austin. But this was not to be. My truck, while running great, does eat more gas now than it did before. Kinda like the driver. Anyways, Once I make it to Kyle, I realize I just don't have neough gas to make it to San Antonio. I turn around, and it's only then that I realize I might not have enough to make it back to Erin's.

I have $9 in my bank account. Now, everytime I've gone to one of those Pay At The Pump gas thingies, I've always been denied...something about having less than $20 in my bank account signals to the pump that I cannopt be trusted with any kind of gas dispensation or classified documents. So I drive up, pop in my ATM debit card and get "SALE DENIED." Then I remember I have a Visa check card. Pop that in, and get $8 of gas! WOO! Visa - It's everywhere you wanna be!

I made it into San Antonio with no real problems....

FRIDAY
After waking up the family and I moved towards a Chinese Buffet dinner. They FINALLY got the 4x4 fixed (reinforcing my idea that they leave EVERYTHING for the last minute) and we took off for Chinese food. Now, as dad usually does, he's decided to try and get me interested in the Medical field. I want to get into computers, I want to get into graphic arts, too. I DO NOT wnat to get into the medical field. All his time staying up late nights, seeing all those "The Medical Field is BOOMING!" commercials has him hell bent on trying to guilt me into the Medical field.

After convincing him that (1) I have no interest in medicine and (2) This isn't a job you get while waiting for another job, it's a CAREER and (3) I'm NOT gonna do it, he goes on about "Where do you see yourself in 20 years?" I told him the truth: I don't have a vision for the next few weeks, much less years. This was the wrong thing to say, because he got ammunition for his Medical Field thing (How can you say no to it, if you don't even have plans for next week?) and now he wants me to read his self-help books again. I HATE THOSE THINGS. Worse, he treats them like some people treat the bible. So they are the end all and be all of everything.

And like I've said before, he simply reads them to beat up on himself.

Dinner was awkward. Dad is still embarassed of me, and was giving me his "I need to get us out of here look" depite the fact I was more male than ambiguous. And they wonder why I have problems going home.

Thankfully once dinner ended they all went to bed, and I was alone the rest of the evening. It had been a pretty bad day.

SATURDAY
On waking up, I IMed Jenni about getting together with my phone number to call me when she wanted me to come over. I was then kicked off the computer...so I wated for Jenni's call.

3PM

4PM

5PM - By now I'm pretty bored and grab my big box of Comic books...and start reading them. I make it all the way to Robotech Master #18 before I notice #19 is missing. After a hefty search of the room, and the HOUSE, I realize it's simply gone AWOL. I'm pissed. It's a sixteen year old comic book, where am I going to find a replacement?! I also start gathering up some of my books to bring back with me to Erin's...and a lot of THEM are missing, too. I'm really upset by this.

6PM

7PM

At 8PM, I declare "I've been stood up." and offer to get hot wings for the family. WE get them, and we have dinner. When I went to go get the wings, I couldn't find my keys anywhere...I ask about them and my mother immediately says "There are spares in the hallway." This raised an eyebrow or two from me.

Dad eventually goes to bed, and I say good bye to him...to which he responds "I thought you were staying another day? Your mother told me you were staying another day." I told him I was leaving so I didn't have to drive during the day (no Air Conditioning). We hugged, he went to bed.

When I said goodbye to mother, she gave me the same spiel - "I thought you were staying another day." No, I wasn't...I ask her about my keys...she doesn't know where they are. I tear up my room looking for said keys...nowhere. I walk in to my mom's room and ask dad, who is half asleep. They're on her bedside table.

::cocks eyebrow::

Thankfully, I left home and made it to Dean's with no real problems, other than my missing comic book.

SUNDAY
Sunday...the coolest day I've had in a LONG time.

Woke up and we headed off to the Alamo Drafthouse for Dinner and a Movie...and boy were we entertained. If you're ever in Austin you MUST see a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse. REQUIRED. The movie started at 4:45, we walked into the theater at 3:45...and something was already on the screen. A Filipino spy flick called "For Your Height Only." The only movie I know of that the superspy is not only good at what he does, turns the ladies head, and is a disco inferno, but is also three feet tall. That had to be one of the FUNNIEST things I ever saw. Just before the movie "ended" we were served our dinners (Pesto Pizza for me!) and the TRailers started.

Typical trailer stuff, but JUST before the movie started, suddenly there was a jump in the film and we got the trailer for "The Nude Bomb" The Get Smart Movie from 1980! And then the trailer for "I Married an Axe Murderer!" Ye gods, I love this place! The movie FINALLY started (Austin Powers in Goldmember). EXCELLENT movie, especially the first ten minutes or so...and make sure to watch ALL The previous movies before you watch this one. It's worth it. I plan to go back to the Drafthouse many many times....

From there, we toured Hyde Park (The "Right now, where that trashcan is, is where Gem Lake used to be"), the obligatory visit to Sophie T Cat at my old apartment (I'm going back there, you know) and then on to Book People where I picked up a book of Suzanne Vega's poetry.

From there (IT was 11PM by now) we hit the Kerbey Lane Cafe for fajitas and Hummus....which was rather unspectacular (I'll take Jim's over Kerbey Lane any day)...and went home. I got back here late, finished up CS#11 and went to bed...

MONDAY
Recovery - this really wasn't a very relaxing vacation...my entire time, other than Sunday, was pretty badly handled and made me uptight. When I wanna relax, I wanna RELAX, not worry about what the Parents are gonna do NOW. I answered millions of Tetra related EMail (Who would thought this might become the next All Your Base? :) ) and just hung out. Had Chilli's, too.

Also found out that Jenni not calling me was a misunderstainding on all parts...so everythingis cool there.

Yes, Tetras are a personal injoke. If you have to ask, you don't get it. ;)

Now a personal request - anyone out there...PLEASE call your local comic stores and see if they have a copy of "ROBOTECH MASTERS #19" from COMICO COMICS. If so, please get a price and let me know - I need a new copy, and heaven knows where I'm gonna find it.
