So the truck emergency doesn't seem to be as bad as I fist thought. The freeze plug we popped in there needs tightening, and that slow leak will be there until we tighten it. however, stupidity on my part made me see a 50% loss of water overnight, instead of a few drop of water. And with 3 new wuarts of oil, a full water reservoir and an 50 mile shakedown cruise, it looks like I'll be good to go to San Antonio tomorrow.

Nathan got me a copy of Dot and the Kangaroo on DVD for me. It's definately kiddie fare, but then I was 5 years old when I fell in love with it. Plus, it has a VERY bittersweet ending. That's right kids, not all endings are happy ones. So, for 90 minutes, I was 5 years old again. Dear god, I love this movie. :) Even if I could have made a better DVD menu with a copy of MS Paint. :)

Thanks, Nathan. :)

In other news, I'm adding a few entries ahead of time, because I can't add entries to my Livejournal with a Dreamcast (it locks up). I can, however, write comments to entries with the Dreamcast. So you'll see about a week's worth of entries up front, with no comments till I fill them in.

Fun fun fun!

Finally, I can sit down and type. I type pretty fast, and this Dreamcast keyboard is pretty slow, so if decides to drop letters, don't complain to me, complain to Sega.

I've also decided that after I get back to Austin, I'll post these entries as Real Entries incase anyone missed them.

Anyways, Tuesday. I had 3 new quarts of oil in the pickup, an emergency three litre of water for the cooling system and a full tank of gas. I was OFF to my uncle's!

Or so I thought.

My uncle lives in a litte town near Nixon, a good 150 miles away. Not a Big Deal for me, espeically since I do long distance driving all the time. But no matter when you leave, the trip will still take upwards of a few hours. I was supposed to leave at 1PM. I left the house at 3:30. I didn't leave austin until 4:30.

I ended up going straight to San Antonio, since once I got to Nixon, I'd have to turn and head direct to San Antonio.

So I compromised - I went to SA, but took a VERY long way.

I went through Edge Falls. I've never understood why it was called that. Everytime I had gone through there, there was no water falling or anything. But the day after a thunderstom..wow. It looked like a huge tidal wave had gotten stuck in one place and was just crashing into itself. Beautiful. I wish I had my camera....

I stopped in on of the towns to clean off my windshield (Big thunderstorms from West or South Texas always bring sand with them, which rains alongside the water). I was driving into the sun, and the glare was killing me. In the convenience store there was a Santa, just sitting there in a Santa Outfit, but wih his real santa-like beard and hair...just waving to people as they walked in.

Once home, the evening was spent with cousins and aunts and uncles. Gifts were exchanged, and one cousin actually pissed me off. She came to our party with a can of popcorn, the kind with Caramel, Cheese, and Butter flavors. This was brought for the party. When she realized I was here, she got one of my mother's gift tags and signed her name on it. I really wished she'd have just said "We didn't know you were coming" or "We didn't think you'd be here" instead of giving me something from the party. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, it IS the thought that counts...but that was just lame giving me a gift that was supposed to be an hors'd'oveur.

I did smile and say thank you, tough. Anyone want some popcorn?
