I did nothing but comics on Saturday, so I'm going to tell you about the lovely Friday I just had:

I had been getting really antsy lately. My bank account had been overdrawn since the end of January, and I was itching for my Tax Return. I knew it was coming on the 20th, but I didn't know when. All on the 19th I checked my account all day, and went to bed dissapointed.

Woke up at 8AM on Friday...signed on to check mail and looked in my bank account to see if the Bush Junta had deposited my refund. And they did!

GOVERNMENT SUPPORTED SPENDING SPREE!

Afterpaying a fairly delinquent bill, I quite literally Up and Left.

First I did somehting that I needed to do: GAS UP THE TRUCK. Poor thing had been starving for gas lately. It took $40. FORTY DOLLARS IN GAS. Texas prices for gas. Poor thing was running on fumes.

Then, on to Auto Zone for a new oilcap. Someone stole mine, it seems. Last time I checked the oil was in San Anotnio and the cap was there. A month ago, I checked the clutch and brake fluids, and the cap was there. A few days ago, when I checked the engine for stuttering (which I found out is because I'm low on gas) the cap was gone.

And then something bad happened. I was driving along to Autozone when I noticed the "check guages" light came up. So I checked the guages...and saw the oil pressure slowly go up and up and up...and the battery charge...and the temperature...and the speed....and the fuel. Just kept going up and up and up....and then "POP" a flash of smoke...and the guages all slowly went back down. But they didn't go to zero..they went right back to where they were supposed to go. Note to self - have the electrical system overhauled.

The guages still work, they just won't go to zero when the truck is off, and they go UP just fine, but go down very slowly. (Coming to a full stop takes a few seconds for the guage to go down).

Four quarts of oil and a new oilcap later, and the truck is happy. Sorta.

I head on off to the Mall to pick up the Galactica DVD set I'd been wanting since last year. So I hit Best buy, and found out the $115 box set was now $85 (I didn't know there were two versions of the box set). So I had a little more money that I thought I'd have, and picked up a copy of the Transformers DVD Box Set as well. Couldn't find the copy of Suzanne Vega's "Songs in Red and Grey" anywhere, so I just gave up and bought it online.

From there, I ran over to the post office, and mailed off some VCDs to Elenderel. VCDs are Nice Things. :) (reminds me, I need to do Super Mario Brothers VCDs)

I've spent most of the rest of the day watching the DVD, and drawing. Saturday, too. Except on Saturday I just bought groceries like MAD. If I even THOUGHT we needed it, I picked it up. Ended up with $120 in groceries. :9

The Galactica DVDs...oh, man, we NEED more DVDs like this. The shows were (mostly) remastered. I heard that the negatives weren't all that good, and they had to use Australian masters. And so far only one episode just Looks Bad (The Magnificent Warriors). It has that 80's TV blur that the other episodes don't (well, the episodes I've seen). You can actually see the mouths of the "Angels" behind their gauze talking, as well as the cameras in some of the cylon shots. They're REALLY clear.

But while there aren't a lot of really indepth documentaries or anything, the DID show EVERY SINGLE cut scene, edit, alternate take and a few of the bloopers and gags for each episode. Usually about 20 minutes per episode! It was neat to see the Serina "Space Cancer" shots, the "Self-pitying Adama" shots and the Galactica anthem shots that were taken out.

Robotech did that as well, but saved them all for the last disc (wow, who went through all 85 episodes looking for cut scenes from the Japanese masters?).

And those who haven't seen the inspiration of the AWFW angels, can click here and see them, thanks to the new DVDs and a healthy dose of copyright infringement. :D

I am writing to invite you to attend Trinoc Con 2004 which is being held
July 23-25, 2004 in Durham, NC. [...]

If you are interested please let me know. This year's comics
guests include Erin Lindsey, T. Campbell, Jamie Robertson and Van Plexico.

I have a LOT of questions to ask, and a stagefright fear to get over...and a few pounds to lose...but I DO think I'll go.

On a possibly Galactica-Narcosis note, anyone out there a Hollywoodishtype Agent? Ronald Moore has expressed an interest in doing War of the Gods for his new Galactica remake. I'd like to write that script. However...I'm not WGA. And I doubt they'll take spec scripts.

So anyone out there an agent (or know one) who could forward a script after looking it over? (I can write a script, and would be willing to submit a pilot script I wrote for giggles if they'd like to see what I can do).

C'mon Ronald Moore - you broke into Trek on a spec script. Do a gal a favor? :D
