The recent spate of comics have a lot of little things in there that have happened or were said to me. The "'Lady?' not from where I'm standing!" was said to my face a Kinko's. The person was promptly kicked out.

The "Being a woman isn't something you can earn or become - it's something you're born into...and you weren't" was said to me by a coworker days before a firing. Most likely by the coworker who got me fired.

In a bit of Life imitating Art, though: My dad called me she last week while I was visiting...and got a look from my mom. :) Later, he was talking with my sister on the phone and said "She's here...She's...He's...She's....She's...He's...She's here." Much like when my mom was talking to me about my sister's period then suddenly shut up as she realized who she was talking to, it made me happy to at least realize I'm making a dent. It's only BEEN ten years. :D

And now something I wanted to say. A couple of weeks ago I asked "Is Becky right, or Carrie right?" about her showing up to the funeral as Carrie. It's right here, in fact: http://jenndolari.livejournal.com/760892.html

My position? It was wrong of Carrie to show up as Carrie. A funeral isn't a quincanera, or a social event. You're already dealing with something terrible, don't make it worse by pulling some kind of stunt.

If Carrie had told her family, then, yes, go as Carrie. But she hadn't. And with a family like her mom's, it was a REALLY REALLY bad idea.

But the story called for it, and I wrote it as it needed to be written.
