ATTENCION ATTENCION
Apr. 26th, 2007 03:42 amFor the first time in a long time, I scanned around on my shortwave radio (now with more powerful antenna) and picked up a V2A Cuban Numbers Station. I hadn't heard them in a long time (mainly because V2A tends to be on just before daybreak, not at deep night).
While numbers stations tend to have a spooky quality to them, the Cubans have changed the automated voice they use for the spy transmissions. Instead of sounding like a disembodied vaguely female robot voice, the girl actually sounds like a rather cheery teenager now. I guess even the receivers need the occasional reminder of what they're spying for back home. :D
For Aadroma - V2A was on 5898KHz at 3AM CDT. Clear as a bell.
And for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_station
