I cancelled my cable/internet service today. I really didn't want to, but I needed to, as it's looking (again) like I won't make rent this month without some help. I'd hoped to stave off cancelling anything hoping a new job was on the horizon, but it doesn't look like that is happening.
My main bills are Rent, Groceries, Cable, Gas, Electricity, Phone, Second Life.
I can't get rid of rent, and that fluctuated every month because they tack on utlities on it. Groceries was the thing I was trying to cut down on this month, but I was flat out of things I could eat, so I ended up having to make a run anyways which has noe made it possible that I wont' make rent. Gas fluctuates, as well, and I've cut back on trips (minus the one I took to Mt Vernon for a job) and gas only as needed (and only once the needle dissapears and the engine stutters). Electricity needs to stay on, and I conserve as much as I can (No AC helps). Phone is a necessity right now, and must be on so I can find new jobs, and keep in contact with people. Second Life is my refuge away from what has become a very painful life situation, and I dont' want to kill that unless I have to. Having a stable homelife there helps ease the pain that Seattle has been a disaster.
So, for now, I'm killing Cable. That'll free up about $150 in bills (they ballooned me this month for the next six months by 100%). If things are still tight, the phone may need to be shut off and I'll have to go to something like Skype. After that, bare minimum groceries. And last Second Life. If I lose SL, though, I will more than likely go postal and destroy most of the West Coast in my rage.
I can see why there are so many homless on the West Coast, compared to Texas. Alms for the poor? Job offers? Anything?
Normaklly this isunder a work filter, but why? It's just the truth: My job dont' pay shit.
