Several interrelated ones. Are the angel characters still angels in CS? If so are/how are Irvving, Skifander and Zoe's shoulder angels related to them. Lastly Is Skifander's name a girl genius reference.
The angel characters in AWFW are still angels in CS. The second to last storyline "A Handful of Dust" is an AWFW/CS Crossover, but shows a very different "heaven" than you see in AWFW, where the Shadow War never occurred. Irving isn't an angel, though, he's just a Carrie's version of Jiminy Cricket, her conscience ("Player 2" Allison is Allison's). Skifander, in the Closetspace crossover, is Zoe's conscience, but this may not be how Erin has her in Venus Envy. She's the only one who knows what the shoulder angels and Skifander are, I'm just adapting. And I'm prety sure Skifander is a Girl Genius reference, but you'd have to ask her to be sure.
Does the CS/VE crossover take place before the current (march 16) storyline point, after it, DURING it, or not (technically) at all in the VE universe? by tinkereena
The world Carrie finds herself in is a sort of "alternate" Venus Envy world. One where Zoe isn't stabbed, and Nina remains cautiously offstage. Originally, there were plans to have Carrie come back as a post-stabbing Zoe, but when I got to the crossover before Erin, I changed it in order not to spoil VE. So in this case, Carrie is in the VE Universe the day before the play where she's Juliet, and Nina is..well..out with the flu.
Any advice for aspiring webcomic artists?
Don't quit your day job, make sure it's something you enjoy doing, and please please please finish telling your stories! The readers (including me) want an ending! :D
Are WFWW and CS set in the same universe?
Actually, no. Closetspace's universe is slightly different than AWFW's universe (There's no Shadow/Angel war in the CS universe). But the characters exist in each universe.
What is wagering? Also, does this crossover mean that Closetspace will go 6-8 months without updating, just like VE?
Yes, no and Maybe. In no particular order. Wagering is an elfin ghost that lives inside your skull.
Who's the funniest person you know?
My ex, AKA Bo Vitus, or the guy Michael Gillespie in AWFW was based on. He's amazingly funny, and came up with the best gags in CS, in my opinion.
What's the best place near you to get some ice cream?
La Casa Gelato, 1033 Venables Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6A 3R9 - Only a scant 141 miles away!
Do you believe in God?
I believe that there is SOMETHING. And we are part of that something, wired and translated into little animal primate bodies. What that something is, I don't know...but I curse it when it hurts us, and I praise it when it helps.
What motivates you at the beginning of your day (whenever that might be)? by sleepykitten99
"Oh, god, It's 6 frickin' 30. I have to get to work...."
What is your greatest inspiration for what you do? by sleepykitten99
I do what I do because, in the end, I want to tell a good story. I want to entertain people, to tell them stories that will inspire THEM to tell stories. To get these characters out of my head, and into yours.
When your muse is hiding from you, how do you coax him/her/it out so you can create/perform freely again? by sleepykitten99
You know, I've never had that problem. The characters in my stories live in my head. They're always there, always telling me what to do next. I find if I leave them to tell their story, they'll ALWAYS have something to do.
If you could pick only one, which Would you pick: Happy or Secure?
I used to think I'd rather be happy than secure, but I'm finding that it's VERY hard to be happy unless I'm financially secure. Sadly, it's easier to live with money, than without.
What made you want to get into webcomics?
I've always wanted to be a storyteller, but I didn't think I had a good enough command of the language to tell the story and make sure the reader saw what I did. So instead, I went for comics, where I could draw the description, and get close to what I wanted, instead of telling it through story, where I would prolly fall flat on my ass. I had a brief stint at a comic company (non-comic-making-role, though), but that experience was so bad, I swore off comics and didn't draw anything for almost a decade. REading Unicorn Jelly, an online webcomic, gave me an idea to do my comics here, and for better-or-for-worse, my comics been on the net since December 2001.
What was your inspiration, or perhaps motivation, behind creating Closet Space? by MissAmberClark
Closetspace (one word ;) ) was created back in the very early 90s, prolly about 91, from a conversation between a friend and I about whether I could pass as a woman well enough to move into a house with one, and not be read as a male. The storyline just sprang from there, with help from a short lived comic I did for a support group. Motivation? I like telling stories.
Consider the following scenario: A Star Trek-style transporter scans you destructively and then reconstructs a perfect copy far away. Assuming no risk of malfunction and no hidden "gotchas", would you willingly enter such a device? Why or why not? by Paziel
I've often wondered if we had a soul, or if we were just electro-chemical impulses in the brain. It'd be wierd if you transported, the soul was destroyed, and whatever materialized on the other end ended up as some sort of homonculus. Living, breathing like normal, but unaware of a loss of soul. Wierd. But to answer the question, sure, I'd do it. TSA is making flying a chore. :D
IF you could look like any person, real or fictional, live or dead, who would it be and why?
In Closetspace, I've often said that Allison looked like me 15 years ago, but that Carrie is what I'd love to look like if I had control of every gene in my body. There's another character of mine from another story I wouldn't mind looking like...haven't drawn her in years, though.
what do you fear the most?
I have several fears and a phobia or two, but my main fear is the loss of my independence. Things like Parkinson's, dystonia, FOP, where you lose control of your body, freak me the heck out. Also, financially - I've spent more time unemployed than employed, and losing a job, with the loss of money and independence can freak me out everytime.
Got any connections to anyone in the TV world?
My freshman English teacher was the Executive Producer of Veronica Mars. I've asked him for advice on breaking into the business...something I'm pursuing, but not really as diligently as I should.
Who's the most talented person you know?
I know a ton of talented people, but the one who I consider most talented is Erin Lindsey. Her cartoons are great, but I've seen some of her Non-VE stuff, and it's tremendous.
