Whatever happened to the Chupacabra? He was the big thing in the late 90s. Prolly pushing floor wax on some late night infomercial....

Parte the First: Got a used game controller for Dean, mainly so we could play Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection online. Plugged it in and got repeated "USB Device not Recognized." Wasn't too happy with that, and after repeated tries (and nearly killing myself falling off a stool to switch out USB ports (Glass is a LOT more resilient than you'd think)), it still wouldn't work.

So I (lightly) banged it against my desk in frustration. "Your new hardware is ready to use!"

So percussive repair actually works! Or at least for ten minutes, where I learned:

Parte the Second: Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection still won't do diagonals on a D-Pad. The analog control DOES do diagonals...but the controls are flipped. So, at this point, I can only blame the programming as three different joysticks simply don't work with the game, while they work perfectly fine with Street Fighter IV.

The joystick stopped working after about ten minutes. A few taps would get it working for a few minutes after, and after one tap that put a little dent in my desk (What the heck?! I had desks that took worse abuse!), I put it away.

I can still play the game via the keyboard, or via a joystick keyboard emulation program (which adds a lot of lag). Don't like that, but it's okay - I haven't seen an online match in MK2 in months.

But now, a quick shower, groceries and (by special request) Chalupa Night II: Revenge of the Beans.

Huh. Wonder if the truck's clutch problem has to do with the cold? Its warmish right now and she's driving like a champ.

"Knee high pantyhose? Those last about six hours. I still have tube socks that date back the Reagan administration, though."

Comic fans: If I had some booth time at Girl Geek Con this August in Seattle, would you come?

Was interested in this whole "Romney Etch A Sketch" thing. So I read about it. Quickly remembered why I wasn't interested in the first place. #politics
