I remember when Emily got sick, when I drove up to Vancouver to see her in the hospital, I ran around the Surrey area running quick errands for her. Somewhere on that second of four days, I realized that, without her, I was just "living" there. She'd always been a guide or a companion with me, helping me adjust from American to Canadian. But now I was just THERE. No one knew I was from Texas, I handled Canadian money like a champ, and knew to say "Zed" instead of "Zee." That was the closest I ever felt to actually living in what I'd hoped to soon be my permanent home.

It was so so so close to being my permanent home, with my future wife, for so long. One of the bitterest pills I ever had to swallow was when all that fell through.

I really do need to visit Vancouver one more time. For old time's sake.

Got no sleep last night. Literally. Eight hours of staring at the ceiling and walls. Glad comics are done, cause I'm a mess today....

Almost no sleep, wired on massive doses of caffeine, and put on a line where I give advice to other techs. I AM SO READY FOR THIS! YEAAAAHHHHHH! WOOOOOOOOOOO! :: pant pant pant ::

...might want to take my advice with a grain of salt, today... @_@
