Sometimes, when I need to detox from stress, or need to get away from it all, I'll pull what I call a "Somewhere in Time." Based on the movie with Chris Reeve where he goes back in time by removing everything from his room and concentrating on a picture from the late 19th century.

If I'm stressed, and I want to head to a simpler time, I go into my room, turn off all the lights, and pull up music just from a year of my choosing, usually 1985 or 1992. Sometimes 1997. I'll play video games from that time, on the systems they were originally on. 1985: NES. 1992/97: PSX. I'll watch a movie or TV show from that era. Preferably on VHS if I can manage it (I have over 400 VHS tapes full of stuff). I try to keep off the internet, and if I'm doing the 90s thing, I use my shell account in Rhode Island.

The idea is to kind of fool myself into thinking it's not HERE and not NOW. It's 1985. It's 1992. It's 1997. Sometimes even 1979. To just enjoy a simpler time, with simpler wants and simpler needs.

Playing Super Mario Bros on an NES with Thompson Twins or Duran Duran in the background. Or watching episode of the Transformers while drawing comics on blue lined paper. It can be very relaxing and nostalgic and a perfect stress reliever. It's not so much a regression, just a "time traveling trip, leaving everything behind for an hour or so."

It's very theraputic. :)

Guys, I know we live in a school zone, but when I pull into my driveway, I'm not there to pick up kids. It's because I live there. Also, you have thirty seconds to get out of my driveway

In lighter news, in the 20+ years I've had my pickup, my dad never signed the truck's title to me. Since it's in their name, I need my parent's power of attorney to donate it. Which they happily gave me. THIS IS HOW SUPERVILLAINS ARE BORN.
