Thinking of changing my computing setup.
Usually, what I try to do is have a great big PC that acts as "home base." It's screaming edge, so I can run everything possible on it, and has a gigantic hard drive with anything and everything I ever need installed on it.
Secondly, I have a "Satellite" system. This is an ultra portable system, just powerful enough to remote desktop into the main system from around the house, while still being able to hold it's own if I took it somewhere.
I haven't had that kind of setup since about 2008, when I bricked my PC...and in 2011 I dropped a box of books on my laptop. It's all been borrowed hardware since.
Coming back to Texas, I began making plans about rebuilding my boxed, and while I'm still looking at a high powered PC as my "home base" system...I may not want a laptop as my satellite system anymore. Tablets are starting to perform just as well as an ultra portable laptop while being much more portable. Also, they're somewhat cheaper.
Still...need a job first. And a vehicle. And maybe an apartment. Things to think about.
