Needed a snack, so I raided some of Dean's Strawberries and Cream oatmeal. Whole place smells like Trix Cereal, now.

One of the banes of my existence is my voice. It's INCREDIBLY deep, and very unfeminine. The folks who've heard my voice are hearing me talk at the highest register I can before my voice "switches" over to falsetto. And that's still well in the range of Male Voice. I've given up on training it to go any higher, and just live with it.

Emily once told me, though, that to digitally switch a voice from male to female, just pitch it up two semitones. Considering I had a new headset for the job, I gave it a try by recording it in Audacity and pitching it up 2 semitones. It wasn't femenine, but it was funny sounding. Made me giggle.

Then I pitched it up 3 semitones. And suddenly there's a lump in my throat....

Alright, Jenn...you've figured out why you're kvetching about this job so much. Nintendo is the first job in a long time you've actually enjoyed, and this isn't Nintendo. Looking at the job itself and the culture, it's actually a pretty good looking place to be. Even if the pay isn't all that great.

Stop kvetching for 6 months. Just do it. If you don't like it then, leave.

Perhaps staying at Nintendo was more important than leaving Seattle. Perhaps staying with your friends was more important than both. #thingsthatkeepmeawakeatnight

Did I say six months? I meant three. I have a plan! :)

Job counters cunning plan by giving me graveyard shift, and PERFECT DAYS OF. IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE.

Usually, when I get a job, I have a feast somewhere. I haven't been in Austin in seven years. Where should I go, fellow Austinites? My money, for now, is on Austin Pizza Garden, but I'm up for suggestions.
