Aug. 4th, 2014 04:04 pmOne of my first really writing "jobs" was developing a public access show for a friend. It involved four bumbling archaeologists, who couldn't actually do archaeology because their first job cursed them. One was cursed with the inability to communicate through anything other than signs (our cameraman). Another would be cursed with the inability to use anything electronic. One was cursed into thinking he was Egon from the Ghostbusters.
Then there was my character, Montana Montoya. He was, FOR WHATEVER REASON KNOWN ONLY TO THE DEVELOPER, cursed to switch genders. Randomly. Throughout the day.
It was going to be really random, often changing between scenes or getting stuck for long periods of time. He wouldn't ever be aware of it, though and would only notice when someone pointed it out.
While our was never filmed, we got really close to it. I wrote our first episode, detailing our first adventure (Video Pirates who were actually pirates that boarded your car and stole your videos...we even find a pave to film a thrilling boarding scene!), and the beginnings of the curses.
One of my proudest moments was managing to talk a friend into being the female Montana. I'm a bit short (for a male) but very stocky, and to get maximum hilarity, the girl who would play female Montana was incredibly petite. Switching between genders she's actually have worn my clothes, badly fitting, in his female state. Vice versa, the few times he's wear female clothes, I would end up in then, ripping out all the seams Incredible Hulk style.
We never got around to filming it. The other person who actually egged me into developing this moved out of town suddenly, and we were left without the driving force to start the show. I have, however, considered doing this as a web comic...and that video pirates episode WAS pretty funny....
Always wanted to see that gender swapped Montana Montoya, too....
