Huh. The Ring isn't NEARLY as scary as everyone told me it'd be.

Running into a serious problem with the jobs. They're all offering $10-12/hr. If I even mention $16/hr, which is what I need to get even a small apartment in Austin, I'm basically told "Thanks for applying!" No negotiation, no nothing.

Unless I get $16/hr, there's no need for the job - I'll lose my apartment no matter what, but $16 is what will get me a cheap studio or even efficiency. At $12, I'd need to find an apartment in Austin for $360/month. And I was paying MORE than than in much cheaper San Antonio in 1996.

I think I'm in trouble.

If you are interested in the timeline of 9/11, History Commons has an amazingly well done timeline of events, stretching from the 70s to today, about the events and ideas that may have inspired the 9/11 attacks, the plans to execute it, the timeline of events of the day, and repercussions. I'm linking to just the events of 9/11, but even just the reports on this day may show you something you didn't know before. All the events are sourced from news reports, commission reports, articlles and current events postings. It's an amazing read.

I saw my quitting as jumping out of a window of a burning building. I could either stay in and burn, or jump out the window and use the precious few seconds to try to learn how to fly.

The comics are me flapping my arms. I'm slowing down, but not by much. And the ground is coming up REALLY fast.
