My camera is working again! It spent eight hours in soaking rain after falling out of my bag a few days ago.

Thankfully, the battery remained dry and the electronics dried it really quickly...but the optics didn't. All the pics were fuzzy and blurred.

After leaving it on the shelf for almost a week, absentmindedly grabbed it and took a quick pic...which came out perfect!

Wasn't looking forward to shelling out for a new camera and now I don't gotta!

While Papa Mountain continues to hide himself away where I can't see him, Mama Mountain (aka Mount Baker) finally greeted me in my way to work today.

"Welcome, ambassador, I'm Jean-Luc Picard, captain of the Enterprise. And this I'd Deanna Troi, ship's trollop. Seriously Troi, couldn't you have worn that nice blue number instead of the catsuit? THIS IS FIRST CONTACT! You can't do these over!"

"You know, maybe this isn't about an empty house. Maybe it's about that empty chair on the bridge of the Enterprise. Ever since I've left Starfleet, I haven't made a difference..."

All the dishes are done, fridge cleaned out, laundry all done, house cleaned...well...cleanish. Kinda clean. Mostly clean. Vidya Game Time, I'm thinking.

There have been two trans suicides in just about 24 hours.

Those are just the high profile ones. The attempted suicide rate in trans circles hovers around 40%. If you know a trans person, you likely know someone who has attempted suicide. If you're reading this now, you are reading someone who attempted suicide years ago.

There have been suicides before today, there will be suicides after today. But you can help stop them.

How?

If you are trans, and considering suicide, please get help. You can visit http://www.translifeline.org/ or call (877) 565-8860. They, and we want to help you.

If you know someone who is trans, be a friend. Watch out for them. Look out for signs and signals. Help them when they're down and out. You may be the one person who keeps them alive through the night.

If you are the parents of a trans person, remember that they are still your child, no matter what gender they wish to be. Your child loves you for who you are. You can love them for who they are.

If you know no one who is trans, and see one on the street, remember that we're human. We're not monsters to be shunned. We're not sissies to be mocked. We're not molesters going after your children. We're not an abomination on society. We, like the rest of society, are human.

And like all humans, we need each other help get us through the day. We can make the world better, not just for trans people, if we just remember to be good to each other.

And if you can't be good, at least be polite.
