"I'm just a very talented mimic. I just copied comics I liked until I draw them without copying. Copied plots that I liked until I could write them on my own. I even learned scriptwriting from copying other scripts until I knew it by heart. I wouldn't say I'm good at this, just good at copying. When I think about drumming, I'm just copying music I've already heard to try and figure it out."

"You know that's called research, practice and development of a skill, right?"

".......wha?"

Thoughts Before Bed

Something I hadn't considered: Something that could really hinder me learning the drums are my severely messed up ankles.

1) They'll roll if I land on my foot wrong, and hitting the kick drum pedals could easily roll my right ankle. Although I could keep that from happening with an air-cast to keep the ankle immobile.

2) Sometimes the ligaments or tendons in my ankle "dislocate" meaning I can't flex my ankle without extreme pain until they "relocate." I can manually do this by flexing my foot with my hands until it "clicks" back into place...but it can be hours before it does it (sometimes days). Again, I can keep it from happening during the session with an air-cast, but it if it happens before - it could be a while before I could use the kick drum again.

Possible fix? Copy Micky Dolenz and play right handed up top and left handed below? My left ankle is WAY stronger than my right.
