Last year I started making a very specific plan to start the Oregon Trail trip.
Phase 1: Get the car fixed and overhauled.
Phase 2: Save up for the trip.
Phase 3: DO THE TRIP.
I didn't get through any of it because I took a huge paycut as well as got several medical bills that wiped out my paycheck. But as of today, Phase 1 is mostly done! If I was to do the trip TODAY, I'd feel safe doing it in Click, but, a few sensors and a door repair still need to be done.
I think I can safely say I'm in Phase .75? The real question is now becoming, when to do Phase 3? Doing some quick calculation, the trip from Seattle to Independence, MO is four days of straight driving via freeways (I've actually checked this one). The trip from there back would likely be seven to 10 days. This would be exactly two weeks. If I'm on my break from Nintendo, easily done. If I'm at a permanent job, this is cutting it TIGHT inside a two week vacation period.
This is why I gave myself two deadlines for Independence Rock. 2020 if I'm still a contractor, or 2021 if I'm permanent. Whereever that may be.
Fingers crossed that this happens.
