If we can't pull this country out of the nosedive into authoritarianism AND the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes v EEOC & Aimee Stephens Supreme Court decision goes badly, I'm not sure what I'll do.
There's a part of me that would like to flee to Canada. It's not far. I likely will have something of a very tenuous safety net up there. Canada isn't perfect, but it's MILES better than what would be going on here should it happen. I'd keep my legal status as a woman, and the government up north is way more tolerant, even when it's in conservative hands
There's a part of me that would like to stay in the US. I live in one of the most liberal states in the Union, and that alone gives me time if shit hits the fan. But what we see with the State of Texas coming down on Austin, I could see happening with the Federal Government and the West Coast. And I'd hope I could muster up the courage to stay and fight that.
Flee for protection? Stay and fight? Don't know. And I hope...I HOPE BEYOND HOPE...I don't have to do either.
