When I worked at Nintendo, I walked .8 miles to work, 1.6 miles around campus for lunch, and .8 back for a total of 3.2 miles daily. I actually got SUPER fit about that time (then my doctor prescribed me antidepressants and all my weight came back).
I do try to walk when I can, but my town is VERY hilly and I live on the side of a steep grade. But there is a rail-trail not too far from here - no real steep grades, paved for the most part. Why not try that?
So for about two years now, with a big emphasis on the last two months, I've been walking the Snoqualmie Valley Trail. But "continuously." All the way down.
But I do them in 1.6 mile segments. I walk out 1.6 miles, back 1.6 miles. And then pick up from that point (when I can) and keep going. Unfortunately, if I can't find a parking spot that's inside the 1.6 miles, I get gaps, and thankfully, I've only had two.
As of today, I've finally finished the first segment. The trail ends in Tokul, and picks back up in North Bend. According to Google Earth, I've walked 16.46 miles. But I've also walked BACK 16.46 miles. A total of almost 33 miles. O_O
And Friday, I go down to North Bend and pick the trail back up in it's second segment, (weather permitting) and do another 3.2 miles. All the way to the end....
