I'm really surprised at how much Japanese I've picked up just from watching decades of anime. It's all massively impolite and rude, but I understand the important bits.

I should use the downtime to really sit and learn it properly. Especially if I'm going to visit in a few years. Could even help me land a job state-side (or Canada-side for that matter).
