One of the bad things about moving to Linux is my monthly backups.

Windows was pretty good at putting everything I needed in easy reach in the My Documents folder.

Linux programs don't always use one directory to put data files, and they're hidden away in various .var/.local/.config directories.

I THINK I got everything, but I'm terrified I'm going to miss something when I do my backups, and lose it. And I'd hate to do a 500GB monthly backup of my whole home directory every month just because I'm not sure where in my home directory different programs squirreled stuff away.

I think I have the backup down. I just rebuilt my backup settings from scratch from the "backups" side of the backup, and not the "documents" side of the backup. I can't find the files I need easily in my home directory. But I can find them just fine in my backups.

So I used the backups as a base to find what I needed in my home directory instead of seeking out the files scattered around the home directory.
