Oct. 25th, 2021 11:24 amContinuing on the Tangy Spicy Shrimp story, I went through our cupboards and noticed we had Hoisin Sauce, Dobanjian Sauce and (Non Garlic?!) Chili Sauce.
I know the sauce in the Tangy Spicy Shrimp recipe isn't Hoisin, as that's sweet. I didn't try the Dobanjian sauce, because that smelled and looked different than the sauce in the Tangy Spicy Shrimp. We did have the apparently non-Garlic Chili Sauce, though.
I made up some beef ramen (shoulda used Shrimp) and threw in two tablespoons of the non-Garlic Chilli Sauce. This is close to the flavor of that shrimp appetizer, and I'm wondering if the garlic is the flavor that's missing.
I'm prolly gonna pick up some Garlic Chili Sauce during the next grocery trip and try again. If, at that point, it's still not quite right, I'll start scouring all the recipes I saw online to find the right recipe. But I think we're really close.
