Nov. 4th, 2022 12:09 pmJust got another bad DS9 disc, but this time I noticed something. The discs I'm putting them into are the slim-line kind, where you pop the disc on the spindle, instead of putting it on a tray or popping it in a slot and spinning it up.
It spun a little, and I heard a scraping noise. So I popped it off and repositioned it. Again, scraping noise. I purposely bent the disc more than I probably should so it bent away from the tray. And the disc read fine.
The discs are still faulty, since they're failing in other systems, but I think what's happened is the discs got warped somewhere in storage. It sucks, as pretty much a quarter of the discs are bad. But at least I have an explanation, and a method to replace the episodes.
