FRIDAY
I woke up Friday thinking "Man, what a great day, I got AWFW done, I got all day to pack, the house is (mostly) clean...."
Then I remembered.
I have TWO comics.
Twelve hours later, I'm done.
Took off for Austin:
SATURDAY
Woke up and talked with Dean for a VERY VERY VERY long time...just talking about life the Universe and everything. Good talk. Fun talk.
One thing Dean and I still do is talk for HOURS. About anything and everything...and we talked so long that we left LATE.
I stopped by the bank to deposit some money to find that I had a $27.00 overdraft - there goes half my mad money right off the bat.
WE headed on over to book people where Dean got some Thai bells (or whatever country they were. From there we hit Whole Foods to watch the snootiness.
One thing about Whole Foods is that it's populated by three type of people. (1) People who are actually concerned about organic groceries and are trying to shape their lives up (2) Hippies who do it because it's their way of life (There are still tye-dye hippies with their buckskin Indian wives playing frisbee in Austin - I've seen them. They ROCK) and (3) Snooty self-satisfied people who are obviously more important than you will ever be, you twit.
You can usually tell who they are by bumping into them. Type 1 will be very gracious and say "It's no problem" when you say "Excuse me. Type 2 will smile and say "IT's cool!" and Type 3 will glare at you for profaning their personal space with your unwashed stench.
Once at a Whole Foods, I saw a Whole Foods cashier ask "Paper or plastic?" Instead of being insulted at the mere mention of Plastic, a Type 3 Person sneered back at him (Heavily dripping with "nose in air") "I use my own bags...THANK YOU!."
Two things I plan to go to Whole Foods for: Almond Butter (YUM!) and Watermelon Juice.
We bought some chipies and I got a peach cause I was gettin' hungry. We also found Coconut milk and some Papadas Chips there for tomorrows dinner.
Which reminds me, I'm sure we ate something before we left, but hell if I can't remember. I seem to be suffering from missing time. Maybe I was abducted by aliens for a time before we left.
We knew we were going to make INDIAN FOOD OF THE GODS, so we decided to go to an Indian Store Dean knew about to pick up ingredients.
Walking into an Indian store is fun - because it's like an oriental store - when you walk in , you're smacked upside the head by SPICE. Pure, unrefined, spice. You get used to it after a while...but...woo doggies. Spice.
We browsed a bit - one thing I noticed were a few food products that looked more like hair care products. If it weren't for the "Nutrition Facts" stickers placed on the boxes, I'd prolly have been using the small box of rice flower and canned spices to lighten my hair. Instead of pictures of what the product was (and me not being able to read Indian) I saw beautiful women with beautiful hair.
We managed to find some paneer cheese in the freezer, as well as some aloo paratha (YAY! NO MORE HAIVNG TO TRY AND MAKE IT MYSELF AND FAILING MISERABLY!). I forgot about buying papadums at Whole Foods and picked up some more at the store, as well as some (Kevin, are you listening?) TAMARIND CHUTNEY! I love the stuff. :) I thought about getting the Mint Chutney as well, butI was running low on cash (damned overdraft).
We got some PATRIOTIC PIZZA! The pizza was EXCELLENT, but the box it came in made me want to salute it. Plastered with the words GOD BLESS THE USA, UNITES STATES OF AMERICA, LAND OF THE FREE and HOME OF THE BRAVE, I was almost afraid to throw the box away. Maybe I should burn it...it might be against the law to let it touch the ground....
We went home and watched MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 ALL NIGHT LONG! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Well, most of the night.
Personally, I think it's rude, but Dean's New Girl wanted Dean to come over to spend time with her away from me. Maybe it's me, but that's rude. Pulling the host away from company like that. And it's not just me, she does it with other people as well. She needs to grow up, and ditch her security blanket.
While he was gone, I did some quality meditating, which is a good thing. Hadn't done that in a while.
SUNDAY
We went out got an oil change for the truck - it's done now - which is nice, but leaves me $2 for the next week.
Most of the day was spent cooking the Indian food. We went grocery shopping for last minute substances, and for more snootiness (Central MArket is the HEB version of Snooty Central). What originally was just a "let's go see what's here" turned into "OH MY GOD THEY HAVE SPICY GINGER BEER! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That is a GOOD drink. Hot fire Ginger drink.
Have I mentioned I like Ginger? :)
Not only that, but some of the new Tangerine Altoids, which are STRONG as heck. I got a 3 liter of Coca Cola (mmmmmmmmmmm).
We ended up making, the whole night, Palak Paneer (cheese and peas), Chicken Korma (chicken in a curry and coconut milk) and (not) Raita.
I keep making Raita yogut suace, and it's NOTHING like I get at the restaurants. It aint't bad, it's just not raita (pun intended). Let's fix that RIGHT NOW:
(Opens Google -> Searches for KASHMIRI RAITA -> Too many results from restaurants...searching for KASHMIRI RAITA RECIPE -> One entry - a menu from a restaurant -> Jenn Cries)
We watched more MST3K and then bed.
MONDAY
I got Dean's BOy Bike (I may WANT to be a female, but my body is NOT one...and girl's bikes are too small) and went home. Most of the day was simply recovery. Today (Tuesday) has been mostly cleaning house - doing laundry and the like....been busy, but been a cruise control kinda day....
