Milk of Magneto
Sep. 18th, 2002 03:42 amI want to be able to draw like she can.
I've been doing cartoons for well over 15 years now...and I've never graduated from "animation cel-style" art. I can't draw anything photo realistically, it's all done with an animation slant. Actually, it's all done with a hefty Robotech slant. That's what I get from copying the SAME comic books every day during Algebra.
I'm proud of my style, though - it fits me...I just wish I could get THAT level of detail and fluidity. Plus I love the way she draws hands and feet - they're big...but they're also really beautiful. Like the statue of David...the hands on the statue are out of proportion with the rest of his body...but you don't notice it unless you look REALLY close, and even then, you see how beautiful they were crafted.
On the plus side, the clickorama will have a new design come January. I've been thinking of breaking the clickortama up for about three years now...trying to get away from the 500 or so 32x32 icons and something more push buttony. About 1999, I had a neat redesign working using the button method that was a 50s hawaiian post card look to it. "Vacation away with the click-o-rama!" Unfortunately a hard drive error took that down. I tried again (with the stripey design you see now) but it didn't look right, so I went back to the icons.
The icon design has been the same since about 1996 - originally a play on the ending of Mortal Kombat 3, where you have the "Treasures of Shao Kahn" and a set of about ten icons. My first website had "The Treasure of Jenn Dolari" and six links. :)
2002 - we have over 500.
Here's a small hint as to what will be coming:

The blue links have been changed to pink, but this is pretty much what the Click-O-Rama will look like after January 2002. I'm quite happy with it. If you'd like to press the happy buttons, go here: http://www.dolari.org/temp
The day went well...I stuck around for the dinner...and it was nummy. I didn't even embarass myself! Go figure!
Again, no drawing today - I need to rectify this tomorrow.
