How primer on how warranties work: Warranties are for things the company broke, or may have broken when it shipped from the factory. Not things you do to it.

CD Rom stops working with a grinding noise a few days after you buy it? Thats probably us. We'll cover it.

CD Rom stops working because your kid put a PB&J sandwich in the drive? That probably NOT us.

Your post reminded me of a warranty statement from a vendor whose golf clubs are sold in our client's stores. It's lengthy but it made me giggle when I saw it among my spec sheets/source material. One hopes that the examples provided are sufficient to explain to the hapless customer what, exactly, is and is not covered under the warranty.
