It's been tense, but minus a few bumps on the road, not bad at all!

Finally, I can sit down and type. I type pretty fast, and this Dreamcast keyboard is pretty slow, so if decides to drop letters, don't complain to me, complain to Sega.

I've also decided that after I get back to Austin, I'll post these entries as Real Entries incase anyone missed them.

Anyways, Tuesday. I had 3 new quarts of oil in te pickup, an emergency thre litre of water for the cooling system and a full tank of gas. I was OFF to my uncle's!

Or so I thought.

My uncle lives in a litte town near Nixon, a good 150 miles away. Not a Big Deal for me, espeically since i do long distance driving all the time. But no matter when you leave, the trip will still take upwards of a few hours. I was supposed to leave at 1PM. I left he hose at 3:30. I didn't leave austin until 4:30.

I ended up going straigh to San Antonio, since once i got to Nixon, I'd have to turn and head direct to San Antonio.

So I copromised - I went to SA, but took a VERY long way.

I went through Edge Fals. I've nver understood why it was called that. Everytime I had gne hrough there, there was no water falling or anything. But the day afte a hunderstom..wow. It loked lke a huge tidal wave had goten stuck in oneplace and was just crashing into itself. Beautiul. Iwish i hd my camera....

I stopped in on of the tns to clean of my windshield (Big thunderstorms from West or South Texas always bring sand with them, which rains alongside the water). I was driving into the sun, and the glare was killing me. In the convenience store there was a Santa, just sitting here in Santa Outfit, but wih his real santa-like beard ad hair...just waving to people as they walked in.

Once home, the evening was spent with cousins and aunts and uncles. Gifts were exchanged, and one cousin actually pissed me off. She came to our party with a can of popcorn, the kind with Caramel, Cheese, and Butter flavors. This was brough for the party. When she realized I was here, she go one of my mother's gift tags and signed her name on it. I really wished sh'd have just said "We didn't know you were coming" or "We didn't think you'd be here" instead of giving me something from the party. I don' mean to sound ungrateful, it IS the through that counts...but that was just lame giving m a gift that was supposd tobe an hors'd'oveur.

I did smile and say thank you, tough. Anyone want some popcorn?

HORRORS!

I woke up and pulled out the Dreamcast, so I could check my Email. Stupid Jenn-Jenn had brought the Dreamcast, but not the powercord! HORRORS! I did borrow my sister's powercord from her Playstation 2. That got it started...but now I'd forgotten the video cord. AARRGGHH!!

My mood brightened though, when I saw the Loot:

A Brandspanking New Playstation 2!

Woohoo!

I can play Puzzlefighter again! YES!

I finlly logged onto my EMail (on my sister's virus-ridden spyware-snooping pop-up-hell of a computer) to find that [livejournal.com profile] jenni_the_odd had given me $25! Alongside [livejournal.com profile] nathan_r That's $75 I didn't have before! Hot diggity!

The day, though, had a SERIOUS downturn at the end. My father wanted to check out the freeze plug on the truck. No problem. He saw it was definately not set in correct and would fix it tomorrow. Then he checkd he oil, and said there was no oil in the truck. I told him I had just put in three quarts. He added a fourth quart, and still sai there was no oil inthe truck. I showed him the dipstick, which was WAY above full. I showed him the empty oil cans in the back. He refused to believe me. said there was no oil in the truck and refused to hear me out and even refused to believe the dipstick.

Somedays, my dad just WANTS a fight. This was one of those days. I refused to fight him, and simply took the truck out to Stephs (She had an extra Dreamcast video plug) and back. No problem. When I got back he was waiting on me, mad. I told him the truck was fine, it had FOUR QUARTS of new oil. He didn' care...he was mad thAt i was questioning him. Then e told me to fix the freezeplug myself, since I obviously knew so much about trucks.

We din't speak the rest of the day.

I stil didn't get the video plug for the Dreamcast...she had left a powercord out, no a video cord. Oops. :)

MORE LOOT!

When I woke up today, I got DVDs up the yin-yang.

Cleopatra! (Replaceing the one that got damaged)
Casablanca!
Gone with the Wind!
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory!
Rocky Horror Picture Show! (Mom bought THIS?!)

Mom had joind a new DVD Club, an ordered DVDs for XMas for me. She hoped to have them in by XMas, but Post XMas was cool too. I spent most of the evening watching all the supplemental stuff on the DVDs (Gone with the wind has jus a TRAILER?! Come on, dudes, there are at least thre documetaries I know of on this movie alone!)

The trailers for other Bogey movies on the Casablanca DVD are Great. Lauren Bacal is gorgeous. Even at 80.

I love the extras on the Rocky DVD, but the menu is MOST annoying. Am I the only one who is annoyed by interactive DVD menus?

One chinese dinner later, and one Dreamcast video cable from Steph later, I was in DVD Extras heaven.

Dad was still upset with me...but not nearly as much.

Ooo... can we watch Willy Wonka when you get back? I've been wanting to watch a good horror flick. ;) Can I see the extras? Have I already seen them? Can we play MK:DA if I pay for the rental? Can I play with your xmas toys, in other words? :D

In other news, Zelly is no longer MIA. I'm not sure you knew that she was, but she was. That is all. Austin misses ya...

There's no way of knowing
Which direction we are going.
But the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing.

In other words, yes. You can play with the toys. :)

The RHPS stuff is stuff you've seen and stuff you haven't, and maybe was "remade." Superheroes and Once in a While are extras (Superheroes was added to the movie proper, too). Outtakes have a few bloopers, but most are simply B-roll shots (Reaction shots while someone off screen says their lines), a version of the ending with the Time Warp instead of Science fiction, Another misprint of Suerheroes with the audio of the Criminologist and Science fiction over it. I dunno about those last two. I think they "made" those up. There's a nice documentary, too.

Glad to see Zellie is back, and that Austin misses me - maybe itll gimmie a job to keep me there.

Stupid Dreamcast keybaord, makin' me type at around one word a second to keep letters from dropping then crashing when I hit submit. Bastard.

Anyways, things between Dad and I finally calmed down. He fixed the reeze plug, showed me what I needed to do to keep it working, and added a FIFTH quart of oil.

I really don't like that he did that, but it was either that or have him be grumpy to me for the rest of my day.

I went out and ordered the "new" Dreamcast Browser in hehopes that it does "on.click." It have PJava on it, so i hope they fixed that ug. If not...well..maybe tey fixed some of the ther freezeups.

The rest of the day was watching "Gone With the Wind." I used to think this movie was "Scarlet and her Lovers" or "Scarlet loved Tara." Turnsout it's "Scarle is a bitch who ges everything she deserves." When Rhett said "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" I cheered. What a bitch. :)

Mind you, there was a 1 hour intermission for Iron Chef.

The next few episodes of Closetspace further the story, but will e a "Getting to know you" for our charaters. Carrie & Victoia, then Becky & Kevin, then Allison and finaly back to th Patriot Woman. Considering that I ended Roommate Wanted early, I'm considering calling this "Entr'Acte" Maybe.

I've been thinking of doing something this year, like I did las New Years Eve. Although it would be the qual and opposite of last year. Maybe. It's prolly not a good idea, but it hasn't really been a good year either. Better han 2001 by miles, but stll a long way from "ideal."

Looking forward to going home....

I'm noticing an incredible amount of Events, and a incredible deficit of Emotion here. Once I get home to a faster keyboard, I hope the two balance out.

I woke up LATE - A 10 hour sleep. There's somethig in the house that just FORES me to sleep 10 hours. I woke up to vivid dreams I can't remembe anymore. They SEEME important...but for the life of me I can't recall them. I DID wake up, though...to a night at the Chinese buffet.

Oh, it was so nice.

When we got back, I watched Iron Chef, Adult Swim (HOW DARE YOU GUYS GO WEEKDAYS WITH ME WITHOUT CABLE!) and then a night of webbrowsing.

What aan exciting life I lead.

A very slow day...I watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I still love this movie. And it's definately got a SCARY vibe to it in many places. I can see why people are terrified of it.

I felt so bad for the guy who played Agustus Gloop. In all the documentary bits, he seems to be in costume, while no one else was, and in the commentary he was only asked "Hey, what's that mean in German?" or "You recognize this place?" When he had his Big Scene, he talked for a few sconds before being interrupted by the other "Kids." I wasn't RUDE interrupio...it was acual commentary, but they kept cutting into his commentary and he wouldn't follow up.

Veruca was NASTY wasn't she? And Violet was cute, blueberry and all.

Later on in the day, Mom and Dad declared we were going on a drive tomrrow. I hate drives with them. I really do. I'll elaborate on the Monday Entry.

The rest of the day as websurfing, reading up on the Roman Emperos, te origins of the Alphabet and Incan Culture.

After reading up on the Incan creation myths, I hae a bi of a sidestor for the B-Story to Chapter 1 of the Polychronicon. And, believe it or not, after watching Willy Wonka, a MAJOR change in Chapter 4 has occured. There is a character ressurected in that chapter...onl now, he will be ressurected as a child. I think that will be FUN. :)

...road trip...

Yuk

If you read this journal often, and I know I do, you should know that I love roadtrips more than anything in the world. However, a road trip with my family is a WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY.

My Dad is a Worrywart. Everylittle bump and jostle is something wrong with the 4x4. If the glove compartment is stuck, all work halts until it is fixed. We must constantly be on guard to listen for his phone to ring, and are often "tested" to make sure we are. All this in a small space for 8 hours.

My Mom is a "I need it my way NOW" person. She wanted Church's Chicken. Not KFC. Not Golden Chick. Not Popeyes. Church's. We;re nowhere near a church's, and she pouts when we go to Dairy Queen...because DQs are all you have in towns with populations of seven.

My sister is non-sequitur girl. Eight hours of CONSTANT jabbering, and FORCING you to talk about what she wants, interrupting constantl and general annoyingness. ARGH

I HATE DRIVING WITH THEM.

Despite hat, I had a fun LONG drive. San Antonio to Poteet to Pleasanton, to La Parita to Charlotte to Fowlerton to Los Angeles to Cuero. My Camino Real route South of San Antonio.

It's a god route...but I found almost NO Camino Real Markers. Of the 10 on this trip, I saw three. I need to double check those marker listings, as well as my route.

Helloooo... you there? It's 4:30 AM CST on the 31st, and it may be cheesy, but this is the only way I have to contact you right at this moment. If you ARE there, cellularly would work, if you want. Nothing happening, really... just that Austin still misses you, and in fact ordered up a hailstorm for you today. :) I also now have Chef's Luv Shack for the DC. Talk to ya soon.
