To say I did nothing today would be wrong.
I didn't GO anywhere, or do anything earth shattering, but I did go hog wild on the cartooning.
Normally, when I draw, I pencil in all six panels of Closetspace and AWFW in one go. Usually while wrestling is on (sue me, I like wrestling). But today, I wanted to do something a BIT different. AWFW #15 is still six panels, and not nine, but size-wise, it's the size of nine panels. Two of the panels (#1 and #6) are filtered photos, one of which was put up here earlier, and the other is the Shadow...hmmm...what to call it without giving it away...Shadow "Thingy." That panel was a photograph that I added the Thingy to. Hopefully it looks okay. It doesn't to me, but it's pretty much the best I could do pasting a line art on top of a "painted" photo.
So, Raw started, and I began to skritch away at Panel #2. OVer the last month that I didn't draw her, I seemed to have lost her, and Panel #2's Andrea displeases me...but the picture of Aunt Bernice came out JUST fine. So did Uncle Rob, but he got cropped out of the picture. Did you nkowI actually draw on a full sheet of 8x11 paper for these panels, then crop them to a square? I do a lot of art that doesn't get shown because I cut off a good deal of the page.
Any ways, instead of just pencilling EVERYTHING, I pencilled Panel #2, then inked it, ran it over to the scanner for coloring and composited it all at once. Full time to do one panel? 3 Hours. A bit long, yes...
By Panel #3, though, I got Andrea back, and drew what IThink is the best picture of her so far.
It's the closest I've come to getting her "Right" from the picture in my mind's eye. My art may look like Mid 80's anime, but the stories in my head are photo-realistic. My hands are just not THAT good...so I go for what I can do and hope I don't lose too much in the translation. She's very cute here, isn't she?
I inked that panel, scanned and colored. This time, it took 2 hours. So maybe I can get some speed up. Only two more panels to go before I can put AWFW #15 to bed, and start on #16 (Gotta make up for my extra week, dammit).
In other news, snippets of dialogue from The Final Nightmare are trickling down to me. I'm very happy with what's going on, and with a sequence in #17 as well. Chirp chirp.
"It was the hair, right? I always mess up the hair...."
Anyone know where I can get some good photos of the crown Starscream wears in the Transformers movie? Anyone? I'm too lazy to search myself. :)
Haven't' gotten an EMail all day - I wonder of my remailer is down. No news from the job as yet. Id' better get as many panels as I can before I hear one way or another - I get the feeling I'll either be too busy to draw everything I want as quickly as I want, or too depressed to care.
Did I mention how fun it was to revisit Andrea? A reunion with old friends.... :)
