I salute those of you who work first shift, and can manage to get anything done.

The last week has been a complete and total bore. That constant itchy feeling of "Just let me do my work already." Were being trained on stuff we already know, we've taken calls and gotten HUGE kudos from everyone involved. Just put us on the floor already. Because once I'm on the floor I can draw at my desk, surf the web and whatever, instead of having to quickly ink during my lunch, and surf on my antiquated 9600 bps modem till it's time to go to bed.

However.

The weekend was pretty good. Not only did I get AWFW and CS done for the week, staving off any major delays for the comics,

I

GOT

PAID.

I bought replacement shoes! WOOO! My black flats I bought in 1997, and look like hell warmed over with a marks-a-lot marker, are being replaced with balck AND navy versions! Not to mention canvas sneakers that SHOULD last more than three months.

I managed to finally make it to Performance Automotive to buy the Liquid Glass for the cracked engine block...only to find they didn't carry it any more. Neither did Auto Zone ("Can you recommend something for a cracked engine block?" "I don't know...I've never cracked my engine before") or Advanced Automotive. However, they did have something called Liquid Aluminum which the guy behind the counter said was more for fixing radiator leaks but would also work on engine blocks.

I took him at his word. On the back of the bottle it said "Let engine cool for fifteen minutes before use." And what was next door? A Shalimar Pakistani cuisine thingy. So I figured, I'd let the engine cool, and gets some lunch.

The lunch buffet wasn't anything to run home about, however it seems to be a popular place with local Pakistanis, so I'm guessing it's the best Pakistani restaurant of it kind. There was a little old man in the corner, though, walled into a cubicle doing nothing but making fried bread (paan) all day. And on the TV was a Dish Network Indian(?) feed showing their version of American Idol/Star Search called "Boogie Woogie." It's actually pretty neat because the judges who rate the talent first do a number themselves before the show starts. All the contestants seemed to be young (8-13 year olds) wearing traditional Indian ceremonial dresses dancing like Britney Spears. Not to mention the guys who would comment between commercials were, for some reason, having a knockdown drag-out fight.

Got back in the car, put in the Liquid Aluminum (the stuff has GLITTER!) and drove 10 minutes like the bottle said. I ended up near Highland mall.

I walked out of there with my first two PS2 games, and an "Action Replay" game enhancer/cheater. I picked up Robotech: Battlecry and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Gotta say, they're BOTH good. Although finally seeing faces to the voices I heard was a bit jarring. I'd still marry Melanie MacQueen any day with that voice of hers, though.

MK:DA Is not Mortal Kombat. But it's not bad, neither. Better review coming forth once I have time to sit and actually PLAY the damned thing.

So...after all that spending, I went out and got roceries. And I just got anything and everything I thought we needed and thought would taste good. $80. Granted a lot of that was restocking our depleted stores, but it sure felt good to look at a bag of nachos and say "Yeah, I can afford that."

And after all that money out of my wallet...I still have $100 left over. Now THAT is a good feeling. $100 now goes into the Save Jenn's Truck Fund. Another $100 just came in from a friend as well. WOO! $200 so far.

Next paycheck, I'll be a little more frugal, a little less spend-thrifty, and hopefully a lot more towards that engine overhaul.

Andrea is now cameoing in Tasha's World. ROCK!

A good weekend had by all.
