No comics today - no time.

I get on the phones Tuesday. I'm very happy. Because I have no time. Instead, I sit nine hours a day, twiddling my thumbs, "learning" things half the class already knows about (half of us are returning employees). I WAS drawing in class, but when they found out I was acing all the tests, they moved me to "help the others." This moved me into the trainer's line of sight and makes drawing hard to do because...well...it's rude. :)

There is also no web surfing in class. Period. Not to mention I have to wait on Dean to leave work, adding another thirty minutes to an hour per day (to his credit, he's getting me to work a half hour before he goes in himself). So I get three hours a night to web surf on a 9600 modem, ink and try to draw, and the weekend to assemble the comics together.

Once I get on the phones, I can surf at work and have the evening to draw. Thankfully, my manager is cool with moving my shift up 30 minutes to match Dean's shift once I'm on the floor, too.

Things will get normal soon. I just hate having nine hours of looking attentive when I'm thinking "My trainer really looks like Carrot Top...It's easy for you and cheap for them."

I do have comics in back-log, though, so if you need your AWFW or CS fix, you can get to it by jjust pumping the number up by one. I'm saving my backlog, though, for a time when I can't draw for a few weeks or months. Not to mention catch up on LJ. I haven't read anyone's entries in TWO WEEKS!

Then we get this war thing.

No web surfing in class. PERIOD. Even with a national emergency. Last time I was at Dell, we had the whole Election thing. I snuck a few views, and Lucy and the other trainers knew I was doing it, but I was passing so they overlooked it. This time around, one of the trainers pulled my neighbor aside and gave him an obvious "You're on report, mister." I didn't want to raise their ire, either.

But when we got home, the news websites were so...static. We don't have cable, so no CNN. We have very poor receptions, so while we could kind of hear what was going on, I couldn't get anything through the static.

So my last resort: News Radio.

Dear god.

If I wasn't so dependant on radio for the info, I would taje my radio, find some of these bigoted self-important right wing hawks with delusions of grandeur made possible through the use of the "release" button, and shove the radio down their throats.

My dad got me hooked on news radio YEARS ago, when Larry King, Sally Jesse Raphael and Art Bell were out there. There was politics, sure, but it was good rational entertainment. Then Rush showed up, and we got more right wing. Most right wing radio was at least civil back then. Now, it's just hate speech. I have no problem with right-wing ideas. Scarily enough I have a few of my own (very few). But "Talking bad about the government equals IRAQI INFIDEL SYMPATHIZER" is not a goo thing to be broadcasting over the airwaves...24 hours a day.

Sure, they're shock jocks, and make their bread and butter on getting you mad enough to respond...but...JEEZE. You'd think even austin radio would be a LITTLE more liberal than the rest of the world.

On the happier side of things: Dean bought a nice new hard drive. 80GB. We have a 2GB OS PArtition, a 4GB Programs partition, a 2GB Swap File Partition and 66GB for everything else.

::droooooooool::

Not to mention my grocery bill was ssooooooooooooooooooo small this week, that I splurged a bit and replaced my ailing DVD drive, picking up a DVD and CD Burner as well. Rest of the paycheck goes to the pickup.
