Dear USPS,

You have bins across from my PO Box for packages. I really wish you would use them. Having to come in to pick up packages that dont require me to sign anything when you're open usually leaves me in a zombie state when I'm at work.

Or at least have ONE 24 hour Post Office, like in San Antonio....

Now with that off my chest, some notes from the weekend I forgot about.

OLD ANIME: You young fellers don't know how easy you have it. I encoded one of my oldest tapes to DivX today, circa 1987. I did some serious sound clean up due to hiss and drop outs, and I got reminded about how hard it was to get anime back in the day. This tape had Bubblegum Crisis 1 on it, with an episode of Urusei Yatsura and Doctor Slump. The quality was atricious then, and was just as bad now. Sound was muffled badly, and hissy. There wee signal dropouts on the originals because the guy who recorded this in Japan was getting this stuff off the air, no cable. The tape itself was probably several generations down. And back then, THIS was as good as it got.

Now you have pristine copies of anime on DVD, but you lose out on something with the DVDs and Adult Swim. You'd prolly never see an episode of Magical Taruroot or Doctor Slump here, because it's not popular or "a sure fire seller." Ah, well, at least we're GETTING it now. :) And not having to kiss up people simply to get what little anime they have.

DUBLIN DOCTOR PEPPER: I didn't taste any difference.
