Abandon the Alamo, or take the Promotion to Lieutenant?

It's trickled down to me that there are some supervisor positions open. It's trickled down to me that my name as been bandied about to fill one of those positions. It's trickled down to me that Im very qualified for this job.

Now...

Do I go for the job, knowing full well that I'm just postponing the inevitable, or do I abandon ship alltogether and get into another biz like I was planning?

Whadayathink?

Even for a bit, sure'd look good on your resume....

Yeah, I'm with them. More time is good, and more money is better. And resume credentials are just plain gravy. I'd say take the job, milk it for all it's worth, and leave their collective cheeses in the proverbial wind to any degree you feel is necessary when the time comes. :)

Having some idea how corporate America works, I agree. Can't hurt to go for it.

Now, I'd also agree with keeping your options open, but it might just be that taking this position isn't delaying the inevitable. It might be a doorway to something bigger (or at least something mroe stable) later on.

It just seems odd to me, unless they're trying to give you more rope to hang yourself with (possibly because you're too good a tech for them to fire) for them to promote you only to cut you loose a short while later.

Even so, it could look good on a resume, very good.

Go for it! :D Besides, nothing nowadays really says that you'll be at any sort of job for the rest of your life. ;) Its good money, and looks good on a resume, win-win situation. :D
