The comic that kicked my ass is OVER!

(Script is as I was given it)

This strip kicked my ass. First off, it was 8 panels, which is a LOT for me, on top of the 12 I do weekly for CS and AWFW.

Secondly, this was off a script someone wrote using a third person's characters. So I had to make sure (1) my strip looked like what the script said and (2) making the characters look like the ones in the original comic.

The orange tiger creature is one of my own creations (I couldn't think of another humanish animal to stick in there), from the Antarctic days. I'm not much of a furry or anthropomorphic type, so I got lots of practice this page. :)

The mom and dad are originals too, as there were no models to work off of.

What did I learn from this?

(1) I seriously overdrew - panel 1 was really huge and expansive (orignal panel 1 is at the very bottom), but got covered by a big word block. Panel 2 had a whole second story to the house, and #4 had a whole attic layout that was killed by having to "Squinch" the panel tight, and all the word blocks.

(2) I need to draw with multi paneled strips in mind. It took a lot of jigsawing to get something readable since I drew the panels THEN placed them. I wanted a much more dynamic setup for the last four panels, but had to compromise to just having Panel 8 cut into the others.

(3) Lead time is important.

Tomorrow, I take the day off, and get out of the house on a bike ride, and maybe some groceries. ::looks worryingly at bank account::
