The divine path leads to Canada.
Jul. 2nd, 2006 08:27 pmI don't often get a chance to draw backgrounds to my comics, which is why I use photographs so often. Today, after finishing the characters, I had a lot of time left, so I took one of the photographs I planned to use, and instead drew it.

I miss doing stuff like this, but I'm just not fast enough to keep up with the schedule I'm on (or even on the weekly schedule I used to be on). I really need to start drawing more backgrounds...Allison, for an interior decorator, has a very very very bland house becuase I can't draw her house nicely....
The other day while bike riding (I haven't fixed the bike, I'm kinda riding "between" gears), I was thinking about a couple of scenes in both AWFW and CS that have been cut since I started drawing.
AWFW's version of heaven was much different while I was drawing the first half of the story. Heaven, while being as "militaristic" as it seems now, also had a bit of a corporate feeling to it. The angels recieved their orders from Deyus though the "Infinite Secretarial Pool," infinite secretaries that relayed orders so the angels and Deyus never spoke directly to each other. Instead, I've decided to simply remove Deyus alltogether from Heaven. Andrea was supposed to have a training period, where she was taught "how" to be an angel, and sat in a cubicle answering prayers like a tech support rep. I thought it worked at the time, and now with a much more serious story, and more serious portrayal of Heaven, it just doesn't work anymore. I may use it in the heaven of Closetspace (which we see late in the series), since it's a much funnier story (well, when it's not being all MASH-like).
In CS, Allison's flashback to her childhood was longer, and showed more of her growing up, like her first time female, and the friend who "taught her" to be female (who also went a bit overboard, such as trying to teach her to "write like a girl" and "be bubbly like us.") Maybe I'll show it later....
Update: Boogers...after cropping it down to something I can use in the comic, it cut out all the background....

And now in color:
