2006 got off on the wrong foot right away. The year threw a LOT of obtacles in my way, and in fact, I recognized in it, the same kind of warning signs that 2006 was shaping up to become a year like 2001. 2001 was a terrible year.
However, going into a siege mentality on this really worked out. Obstacles were encountered, and either conquered or withheld until they could be deflected. I lost a battle or two here and there, but in general I've won many more than I lost. Another theme this year was cancellation. A lot of stuff was cancelled. Some for good, some for bad. But there was a LOT. In fact, for a while, the one sentence year in review was going to be simply "Cancelled." But in all, even with the cancellations, things that needed to be done were done, and we moved on.
Even with all the obstacles, and all the cancellations, I've hit all the high notes I hoped to, and even hit a few I didn't expect. It's still a 50% 50% year, like 2005, but at leastI felt like I accomplished stuff, even if I'm a bit worse for wear.
2005: What to have, what to hold: A poor man's roses, or a rich man's gold.
2004: You like me! You really like me!
2003: Once more...with feeling!
2002: Wow...that could have gone better.
2001: I hope you die and get ate by worms, Milkman Dan.
