100 days to go.
Gas is expected to be $4 a gallon, I'll have over $100 for each fill up of the pickup. We're in a recession, if not downright economic depression. I won't be able to bring everything with me. If it all fails, I'll have no real safety net. 2000 miles in s a sixteen year old pickup with 220,000 miles. In the summer. With no A/C. Possibly through a desert. Holy crap, what am I doing.
Other than that, things are looking good. My job seems currently stable and should be providing me with a good stream of money until August. I'll be taking a week's vacation sometime in May - I'd like very much to see folks during that week. I plan to make use of my remaining vacation time towards the end of the lease to pack and move stuff home I can't bring with me.
Once I'm there, I'll be staying with friends for a bit, either to keep job hunting, or if I get an job before I move there, apartment hunting. Once I'm settled in, the NEXT move, to Canada, starts planning...but the timetable for that is all up to Canadian Immigration....
I'm worried - but I can do this. It all comes down to money, and the saving thereof. I moved from State College, PA to Austin, TX with $300 in my pocket. When I leave I should have $2500 in credit, and about as much in cash. Still, wish me luck.
Emily is pretty much a Vancouverite now. Now that she's settled, it's time for me to start becoming a Seattle-something. Seattlite? :D
