The closer it gets to the end of my time here at work, the more I realize how good everyone has been to me over the last two years, and how much this company is less a group of employees, and more a family. I haven't felt this good about a job since I worked at Swan in 1997, and the closer I get to leaving, the more I realize how good a job this really was. Even if it was tough in the past. When I first got here, we were struggling, and everyone, literally EVERYONE, put 120% to keep afloat. Now we're on firm ground, our stuff is working well, the company is not just staying afloat but charging forward. I'm actually regretting going at this point.
I have Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday off. Sunday as usual is comic day. I figure there'll be a comic on the 21st and the 28th. On the 4th, we'll have daily updates from the road via Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/dolari), and hopefully at the Photo Gallery (http://dolari.dragondata.net/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2046 - right now just a few maps, we're still working out some of the days), linked from the main comic pages. We may be able to to get the pics posted in almost real time - if I can get a signal with my sidekick, the memory card from the digital camera fits right in, and I can update Gallery from the web browser....
Emily flies down on the 24th (Assuming the postal service gets moving on her tickets). The 25th is my last day at work. The 26th-31st is packing and visiting friends (Definately some Erin and Marca time, if possible, and anyone else in Austin/San Antonio!!!)
On the 31st, we close up shop at the house, keys turned in, power should be off that afternoon or the next day. We'll be living at home for a few days as we double check all our packed stuff, and make sure things get put away for when I come back down to retrieve them.
So far, the trip is looking paid off. We have $1500 in the bank, $2500 in credit, and that's not counting the next full paycheck coming in. There are still some days we're working out (are we staying in Fresno one day? If not, are we staying Las Vegas that day? Or headig to San Francisco for another day?), and the job situation is still up in the air (no one wants me until I actually GET to Seattle, it seems).
In all, our ducks are almost lined up in a row...
What the hell am I doing....
