SNOW DAY!

Okay, the rest of the US may wonder why I was having fun with snow, when everyone else is getting buckets dumped on them. Well...I've had a hankering for snow lately. I lived in Pennsylvania for five winters and fell in love with snow. Before PA, I'd NEVER EVER SEEN SNOW. Not once.

When I moved back to Texas, I knew I wouldn't be seeing snow that often, although last year we got 1/16th of an inch of snow. So when the news reported a 50% chance of snow flurries, I was a bit skeptical.

I mentioned this to Dean, who said "Texas doesn't know how to make snow." At that point, my faith was confirmed - IT WAS GOING TO SNOW. All through the day, he was saying "The snow isn't gonna happen."

About 1AM, the snow began to fall, and not just fall, but BIG BIG Pennsylvania Winter Sizes flakes. And a LOT of them. There was something I fell in love with in PA, and that was falling snow against a light. The way it would drift down, fast but "gently." And it was doing that. I went out and took a whole mess of pics...and while I was out, I heard hooting and hollering from around the area. Snow in Austin is a Big Thing.

So after about an hour in the snow, I come back, upload some pics...and in comes Dean:

"YOUWINLET'SGO!"

We spent ANOTHER hour tromping around in the snow, but by this time cars were drivign around, and the roads were becoming more slush than snow. And a LOT of people were out in the snow now. But I had a blast. There's no neater sound that crunching virgin snow.

And there's no worse sound to wake up to than a car crash. :P

If it's gonna be cold, it should be pretty! :-)

Although, having seen both, I can't say whether I prefer snow or the jagged, frozen in time landscape after a good ice storm.

Last night I dreamt that you drew me a really cool picture of myself using one of my photographs. Then things shifted and I was in the past going through the events that led up to where the dream started. I don't remember a lot of the middle, but it ended with me trying to defend you from 2 or 3 other guys who were trying to kill you. Nathan woke me up just after I kneed one in the groin. Apparently I was acting it out in my sleep.

Anyway, I just felt like mentioning it. At some point I'll have to sit and think about what you symbolize. :)

That's hilarious. Poor confused Texans. At least you think it's neat. Most people hate it. Californians freak out in it. ;)

I can't imagine living without snow. I don't intend to ever move from Colorado.

Ooooh, Colorado was NICE. I went there about twenty years ago and have been meaning to get back since. :)

Ha! Sweet. Most everyone I meet who's actually been here likes it quite a bit. I'm trying to convince a lot of Internet friends to move here. So far... one has, but he brought his best friend. ^^
