The Ainur are the spirits who existed with Ilúvatar, and helped him to create the world Arda through the Music of the Ainur. That and the idea that what Hanna is doing is EXACTLY the job description of a Valkyrie makes you wonder about the global-consciousness-library-myth thing and about where fiction comes from.

Want some fun? One ofthe Maiar was named Olorin.

If you dig thry Lord of the Rings, you'll find a prominent character stating "...and in my youth in the West I was called Olorin"

So when *I* read the Silmarillion, I just about *bounced" when I hit that name. A bit of quick flipping thru LOTR and I found the reference a couple of phone calls and I'd inflicted the same boggledness on a few friends.

ps. Valkyrie???

I find it so wierd in the Tolkein universe that everything has a specific name, and in some cases multiple names.

A Valkyrie's specific job is to choose warriors (Eijirar(?)) from the dead souls of Man to fight in the Final Battle (Ragnarok).

One of Hanna's main jobs is to recruit fighters from human souls to fight in the battle against the Shadows.
