"Mom! It's all stingy!" "That's SPICY, dear."

There is now a Job #4 on the horizon.

About 8:30AM, I got an Email asking for me to call in for a job interview that afternoon. Called in at 9AM. They wanted me to come in that afternoon, but wanted to see something now. I pointed them to AWFW as an example of Photoshop and Quark work.

Come 3PM I get to the interview. Holy cow, that place looked nice! She started the interview with "How long did it take to get here?" "Like the view?" The answer was "five minutes" (it's down the street) and "yes, very" (it's gorgeous).

We got down to business, where I explained that my Quark and Pagemaker work was all mostly in the comics in the last few years, but that I still had a really good working knowledge. I pulled out some of my portfolio work from Kinko's (more on that when I get a yes or no on this job) and showed her what I could do. She hsowed me what they expected.

Basically, it's a weekly newsletter they make for a Medical Insurance Company, and they need someone to make those newsletters and brochures. I an definately do them, no problem. But they ALSO want me to write their copy, which is something I CAN do, but not sure if I'll be able to come up with a newsletter a week.

Still, it's something I WANT to do, much more than my current job.

Let's hope this goes through.

Dean is very big on Thank You for Interviewing Me letters, and I'm wondering if I should write my interviewer AND include a mock-up of the brochure they gave me. Let her know I could complete recreate her brochure.

Whadayathink?

the idea of a sample brochure would be cool. :) It may be a bit over the top tho. I'm not sure. definately a thank you if you are interested in the job.

I did it after all. My roomie, a master of all things employment, said it would be a good idea AND a way to build up a portfolio, mighty quickly.

Wanna see?
