Kenny Rogers "Planet Texas" video is just damned surreal.

Saturday
In the morning, before I went to bed, I ran off to Circuit City (because I wasn't going to stay up till noon for Altex) and picked up a small USB Drive for transferring stuff from work. They have a nice pipeline at work, and mine sucks...so I can get big files now fromwork, throw them onto the USB drive, and download them to the laptop (here that Nikki? :) ) I have named the USB drive "Memories." And when you consider my laptop is "Dorothy One" the main computer is "Dorothy 2" and Dean's is "Big Venus" you will prolly figure out I'm a big geek.

I also picked up a GeForce 4 card, since when I built my original computer, i accidentally bought the wrong card for it. Dean gets the GeForce 2 card. Unfortunately, the card doesn't get along with my monitor. I considered returning it...but it had EVERYTHING I wanted to begin with (TV out, DV-I jack) that I could stand a little blur to my VGA...more on this later.

The $1,000 curse hit me again, though. Everytime my bank account hits $1,000, something happens. This time I hurt my back by falling out of bed. Then I did comics. OW. Hunching over a desk is a Big No No with a bad back

Other than that, we had good Indian food and wached Reefer Madness. I've never partaken of the herb myself, but one of my best friends is a stoner. And let me tell you, the last thing marijuana will do to you is what they show in this movie. Although one character was basicalkly having dinner 24 hours a day, so they got that part right. :) Not to mention we got to see a 1930s version of a rave.

Sunday
I actually took it pretty easy. Won a bid I had on a CD-R component for the laptop. I plan to make 10 CDs for the Convention, and the CD-R component will allow me to make more if I give them all out. I'm also going to make a few brochures for the con, prolly ten again. Although I won't have more if I run out.

I actually watched a good deal of movies while my back recuperated. I saw the 1970s version of the Stepford Wives, and that's a wierd wierd wierd movie. It was very good, but didn't come across to me as a horror movie. Wierd Sci-fi, yeah, but not horror. And my writer's mind kicked in at the end and asked - well, if they're killing women to make completely subservient robots of them...why don't they divorce their wives and move to Stepford ANYWAY? You get the robot and the women become world famous photographers.

That last shot, though, is IMMENSELY creepy. I like how they did it with the hats and sundresses. Originally, they were all going to be in Playboy bunny type leotards, which wouldn't be nearly as creepy.

Monday
Cleaned house mostly, and puttered around on the computer. The VGA blur kinda bugged me a bit, but I figured that one day (especially if I manage to keep my job after the convention) I'll pick up a DVI Monitor. So I looked around and simply couldn't find one. Everywhere I went had flatpanels like mine - they're flatpanel LCD screens...but with VGA inputs. So after a while, I decided to try out Froogle.com and threw in DVI MONITOR as search words.

First thing on the list: $16,195.

::jaw drop::

For $16,195 I'd better get the USS Enterprise viewscreen.

The rest? $6950, $6778.95, $6499.99 (like the penny makes a difference).

Then I realized these were, like, 5 foot plasma screen TVs. I found some pretty decent ones around the $500 dollar range, which (if I keep my job) is not undoable even saving up for next year's surgery (assuming I decide to do it - jury is still out).

Now, to sleep. Gotta go to work. Don't wanna. LEss than a month to my birthday AND Trinoc. :)
