I have proven my worth today. I fixed a hardware issue on one of our main machines, in full view of People That Matter. The more I give them, the less they'll want to fire me. :)
Sad to have to think about your job in those terms, but this economy (still) sucks.

So, do you still feel like an exemplar of the "Peter Principle"? [Note: This coming from Ms. Penelope Principle herself (re: graduate school - keep them student loans rollin' in).]
It is great that you have such a generous friend (offer to pay for SRS). I think when the time comes I am going to have to hold some kind of charity benefit, or maybe sell time-shares on the future real-estate *cough, cough* or something.
