ENABLE (MULTIPLE) REMOTE DESKTOP SESSIONS WHILE CONSOLE IS LOGGED IN:
You will need:
Windowx XP Professional (Home version does not have Remote Desktop)
This file: termsrv.dl_
1) Make a FULL BACKUP of your system. Not just a restore point. If you mess something up, System Restore will choke and and NOT restore your system. I'm just glad I made a full backup the day before.
2) Download termsrv.dl_ to c:\windows\system32 and download another copy to c:\windows\system32\dllcache
3) Go to START->RUN and type REGEDIT.
4) In the Registry Editor go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->System->CurrentControlSet->Control->Terminal Server->Licensing Core
5) Right mouse click on the right windowpane and create a new DWORD called EnableConcurrentSessions (no spaces, exactly as you see it). Double click EnableConcurrentSessions and change the value to 1.
6) Go to START -> RUN and type GPEDIT.MSC
7) In the Group Policy Editor go to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Terminal Services. On the rightmost window, double click on "Allow users to connect remotely using Terminal Services" and select ENABLED.
8) Look for "Limit number of connections" in the same pane. Double click it, enable it and change the value to 3 (anymore than three connections is unstable).
9) Reboot your system into the Recovery Console. (If you don't know what Recovery Console is, you should :) Reboot to your XP CD and choose Recovery Console).
10) Change your Directory to c:\windows\system32\dllcache and type "ren termsrv.dll termsrv.old"
11)Type "ren termsrv.dl_ termsrv.dll"
10) Change your Directory to the c:\windows\system32 and type "ren termsrv.dll termsrv.old"
11)Type "ren termsrv.dl_ termsrv.dll"
Reboot your system. You should be good to go! If you hosed your system...well...I warned you about that backup.
