dolari | When terror falls FLAT ON ITS FACE!

So I'm reading "The Interrupted Journey" which is that Betty/Barney Hill book which has prompted the Alien Abduction stuff from the past couple of days. And you know, all the stuff I've read about this case have all said "TERROR! COUPLE ABDUCTED AND FORCED INTO PAINFUL TESTS OF DOOM! ANAL PROBED! NEEDLES! OUCHIES!"

So I've been reading the book in small doses, maonly because I do believe you can manifest cretures from the Id, and when I start to feel that "primal fear" I put the book down and walk away.

So today, we're REALLY in the heart of the book, and Betty Hill is recalling her examination. And of course we get UNDRESS! NEEDLE! OUCHIE! and then....the aliens learn all about Emily Post and become pretty cordial. They find her amusing, but are in no way menacing to her, and they even joke with her. They're more like parents taking a scared child to the doctor for an ear exam...and then one of them even tells her she can take something from the ship (Which was taken away later after "it was decided they wouldn't be allowed to remember") One of them even gives her the advice to stand outside her car to watch the takeoff because it's pretty amazing looking.

And then, all those years of primal fear, of expecting HORROR! OUCHIES! of being afraid of the dark and what might be in it falls COMPLETELY flat on its face.

WHERE WAS THIS BOOK WHEN I WAS A KID?! Yeesh. My entire childhood all I read was DIE DEATH HURT KILL ABDUCT ANAL PROBE!

And it turns out they're just damned English Butlers. :)
