Nov. 30th, 2004 06:32 amThursday (Thanksgiving)
Talk about your dead days at work. From 8PM to 3AM, I took one alarm call. I literally spent the entire evening working on AWFW, and some of the pencils on Closetspace. But once 3AM hit, which was 4AM Eastern, two hours before Black Friday opening...holy cow. The shiy literally hit the fan, we had managers calling from everything from Broken Dead Main REgister Killing Whole Store to hangnails suffered by customers. It was just completely insane, and even with double our normal workload, we were swamped. I got out a 6AM, with 30 minutes of overtime, in time to leave before we were drafted for another 8 hour shift....
FRIDAY
The night was very busy, and we took a ton of calls where they stayed too late and the stores closed automatically. About 2 AM it finally died down enough, andI finished pencilling Closetspace. I got home at 6AM, and layed fown for bed at 8AM...then 9AM....then 10 AM....I knew I was in trouble when it became 1PM (Saturday) and I wasn't the least bit tired, especially sinceI had things to do that night.
I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately, with my body refusing to go to bed at 8AM and wanthing to stay Very Awake. I've been trying to wake up at 4PM every day, but it's a fight to even move for that first hour...I'm lliterally fighting sleep and trying to get out of bed. I can usually be up and moving by 5PM, but there have been times where I'm passing out in bed and waking up at 6PM which is the latest I can get up and still make it to work on time. I started taking melatonin to get to sleep, but I don't like using it since I consider sleeping drugs a very addictive thing.
I knew something was wrong when I decided to take tham at 10AM, and nothing happened. I finally passed out at 2PM/
SATURDAY
And forced myself awake at 6PM. I got quickly dressed and went out to meet Jenn and Renee at a local sushi bar. Unfortunately finding parking was a bear and I got there JUST about the time they finished dinner. :P
Jenn is a completely amazing person. We actually met online about ten years ago back in the days of text based internet. I should have known she was something else when she invited me to a dinner in Austin about a week after I met her. Back then,I was pretty popular as That Girl What Plays Street Fighter and I figured anyone figuring out I wasn't exactly everything I said I was might kill that REAL quick, so I said no, thanks and left it at that. OVer the next ten years, I learned that this woman was just a fireball, and completely rocked at most everything she did. So after 10 years (she says 11) and a truip to Austin, I decided it was time to meet her.
She's insane.
In a good way. :D
I got to meet Renee as well, who is just recently back from Iraq, although compared to Jenn, she was much quieter. :)
We spent the next couple of hours at the Rainbow Cattle Company, a cowboy themed gay bar. I'm not much for drinking or clubbing, but I had a good time. There was some charity drag show going on with a halfway decent Ethel Merman, and Elton John. The ethel merman queen sang "I Need a Hero" to us, for some odd reason.
There was a very very very very cute lesbian there named Gingerlynn who had the whole George Strait look DOWN. And god she was cute in it. :) I felt kinda bad for her, because the group was there more for the drag stuff, and she played it completely straight. It was very much like Carrie's first time up, except Ginger got some applause...not nearly as much as the rest of the show though.
RENEE! I DEMAND PICS! :D
Unfortunately about 10PM, I literally swooned and passed out from lack of sleep. I didn't feel like I spent enough time with those two, especially with how far Jenn had come for just the weekend, but I was just barely awake on the ride home. When I got home, I passed out at 11PM...
SUNDAY
...woke up at 2AM, passed out again about 4, woke up at 7, and was out again at 11. I was finally up at 6PM, and worked on AWFW till 3AM. Oh, BTW, I did manage to get AWFW pusblished and up, which you can see HERE. I fell asleep at 4AM...
MONDAY
...and was up at 8AM, by now my whole body is nuts, and it's shaking and I'm not well. I got dressed for my trip to San Antonio, and left at 9:15 expecting to get there at 11:15 for my appointment. Usually it takes me two hours to get to San Antonio, but I didn't take into account that this appointment was later than normal. so I left at 9:15. And got into San Antonio at 10:45. A FULL THIRTY MINUTES EARLY. To be honest when I got there early, I almost cursed that I coulda gotten another 30 minutes of sleep.
This week was an actual consultation with Dr. Chase. And I made him go POING. Two in not-good ways one in very good. The first not good way was my weight - I've gained 15 pounds in a month. :P The second was because my blood pressure, even on my meds, was high. I blamed that on the severe sleep issues I've had all weekend.
Dr. Chase was like "Everything been okay? You're feeling alright? All the changes working okay?"
And I was "Yeah, my breasts are a little tender still and it's hard to sleep on my stomach, but I'll be fine." "
You don't sleep in those falsies, do you?"
"What Falsies?"
::POING::
"If you want, I can show you."
" O_O "
::pulls up shirt::
"...they're...they're a B-cup easily...and from the shape...you're not even close to...finished. You're going to be a C cup. Maybe even low end D cup when the bottom fills out."
And NOW we know why my mom hates the idea of me transtioning. :D My sister and my mother are B cups, as was my mother's mother. It seems I'm taking after my FATHER'S mother. Oh, dear. She was large. :)
That made me mighty happy. :D But that wasn't the HOT DAMN post, no matter WHAT Dean says.
After the appointment I felt pretty awake and good, so I made a quick side trip to the UTSA Archives to see if they had any of the 93/94 Gender Euphoria strips. They sure did, and HOT DAMN MY COMICS WERE THERE! ALL OF THEM! EVEN THE SAUSAGE ONES!
That made me INSANELY happy. There was even a "Allyson and Carrie" comic I'd forgotten about. I'll prolly "remaster" them and clean them up like the ones I have online (and I'll be cleaning those up again) and put them up for the 4th Anniversary of the animation falls through. However, here're the untouched "missing" raw files:

(Grammar Monstrosity - that should read "Complaining makes me feel so much better")

(Not even sure this was published...it was alone on a paste up page, but they didn't have the actual newsletter it went with)
After that, I was still feeling awake, so I decided to go back to the Tower of Americas and have lunch. I'd never been there for lunch and decided it was time to give it a try. Wow, that place is NICE. And Expensive as Hell. When I got there, I sort of had to grab onto the hostess podium. Maybe it wsa the lack of sleep, but I felt REALLY dizzy standing there. I noticed the outside was moving, but it didn't feel right. That's when I realized the hostest table and the outside weren't moving, it was the TABLES moving. :)
I had a nice Chicken Fried Steak and a salad and paid way too much for it, but it wasn't bad at all. :9
I really wished, now, that I had gone to the tower restaurant when I was doing all the camera shots for Apotheosis. I wonderful shot would have been a crows watching Andrea hanging from the windows from INSIDE the restaurant. Well, I'll save that for the TV series.
After that I came straight home, getting home at 4PM...and I was out like a light till 10PM when I was horrifyingly awakened by the sound of the door bell being run like a machine gun.
So for the last few hours I've been catching up on everything I've missed out on with all the sleep and drowsyness. I'm hoping my system is back on track enough to be asleep on time at 8AM. :)
What a great weekend...imagine what it would have been like on a good sleep schedule...
